About this listen
A #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
Beloved actress, Food Network personality, and New York Times bestselling author Valerie Bertinelli reflects on life at sixty and beyond.
Behind the curtain of her happy on-screen persona, Valerie Bertinelli’s life has been no easy ride, especially when it comes to her own self-image and self-worth. She waged a war against herself for years, learning to equate her value to her appearance as a child star on One Day at a Time and punishing herself in order to fit into the unachievable Hollywood mold. She struggled to make her marriage to Eddie Van Halen—the true love of her life—work, despite all the rifts the rock-star lifestyle created between them. She then watched her son follow in his father’s footsteps, right up onto the stage of Van Halen concerts, and begin his own music career. And like so many women, she cared for her parents as their health declined and saw the roles of parent and child reverse. Through mourning the loss of her parents, discovering more about her family’s past, and realizing how short life really is when she and her son lost Eddie, Valerie finally said, “Enough already!” to a lifelong battle with the scale and found a new path forward to joy and connection. Despite hardships and the pressures of the media industry to be something she’s not, Valerie is, at last, accepting herself: she knows who she is, has discovered her self-worth, and has learned how to prioritize her health and happiness over her weight. With an intimate look into her insecurities, heartbreaks, losses, triumphs, and revelations, Enough Already is the story of Valerie’s sometimes humorous, sometimes raw, but always honest journey to love herself and find joy in the everyday, in family, and in the food and memories we share.
“This thoughtful, bighearted book is sure to be a hit with Bertinelli fans and those with an appetite for stories of hard-won self-acceptance. A warmly intimate memoir.”
– Kirkus Reviews
“In a series of brutally frank essays, Bertinelli looks back on the emotional struggles and triumphs of her life. By turns raw and inspiring, this contains a little bit of wisdom for everyone.”
– Publishers Weekly

Brilliant
I loved this so much. I was so sad when it was over. VB showed us her vulnerabilities as a wife, mother and daughter and it was so darned relatable. I found myself cheering her on for her successes and tearing up for her losses, especially Eddie. What a love story. Oh and did I mention the yummy recipes sprinkled throughout the book? Amazing.

The book/author I didn't know I needed
I didn't know why I bought this book....I saw an interview she did and just felt this pull to get her book.
I'm so glad I did! this book was heartwarming and full of love. I cried, laughed and got angry with her. she told the truths, hard truths and made me think. her words were exactly what I needed to hear and some of what I didn't know I needed.
she spoke of relevant times and made me realize we all have similar issues in our everyday lives.

A true ‘love’ story…
I thoroughly enjoyed this entire book, from beginning to end. Actually, I was sad it was over. I can relate to Valerie so much, as we are from the same era! I found myself looking up things that she talked about, remembering so much of my own journey that was happening to me at the same time! I thank her for sharing her love story with Ed. It is beautiful to know him as the sensitive person that he obviously was, and not just the talent that we all grew up with. I will forever be grateful to his music as it can transport me back to wonderful times in my life when I just want to feel ‘that’ way again, if only for a little while! Your relationship with your son warms my soul, as does my relationship with my own children warms mine! Your battle with self image is something all too familiar to me. Thank you for sharing with me that it’s totally ok to accept things as they are, and relish in the joy that already exists! ….to quote a very smart person…. ‘enough already’!!!

She's one of us.
I've been a fan of Valerie Bertinelli all of my life. Her words are simple and poignant. She proudly talks about her loves and thankfully now, is also filled with self-love. I still hope to have a great conversation with her over a glass of wine one day. :)
