About this listen
A revelatory look into the life and work of Ernest Hemingway, considered in his time to be the greatest living American novelist and short story writer, winner of the 1953 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954.
Mary Dearborn's new biography gives the richest and most nuanced portrait to date of this complex, enigmatically unique American artist, whose same uncontrollable demons that inspired and drove him throughout his life undid him at the end and whose seven novels and six short story collections informed - and are still informing - fiction writing generations after his death.

Ernest One Unique Individual
This biography digs very deep into this man's life. Which alone made the book very interesting. The ending seems a bit rushed. But overall it was time well spent.

"Ernest Hemingway"----- the man.
For Hemingway fans, this is a must 'read' for anyone up to an easy listening 30 hours of a very detailed day to day life record. A Hemingway newbie will likely find this tome to be excessive in its minutia, but if you want to know the real man versus the writer, this biography covering in depth the seasons of Hemingway's uncommon life, will find author, Dearborn's writing well worth the time investment.
