Story
We’ve all seen the memes that populate the internet: live your truth, follow your heart, you only have one life to live. They sound nice and positive. But what if these slogans are actually lies that unhinge us from reality and leave us anxious and exhausted? Another Gospel? author Alisa Childers invites you to examine modern lies that are disguised as truths in today’s culture. Everyday messages of peace, fulfillment, and empowerment swirl around social media. On the surface, they seem like sentiments of freedom and hope, but in reality, they are deeply deceptive.

That idea seemed to fly in the face of the people and causes that she most loved. What follows is a story of what she describes as a train wreck at the hand of the supernatural. These are her secret thoughts about those events, written as only a reflective English professor could.

It wasn’t the response he expected, but it was - and continues to be - the answer he needs. Within this audiobook, you’ll find a fascinating road map to staying emotionally healthy and spiritually alive in the chaos of the modern world.

Laura lives in the little house with her pa, her ma, her sisters Mary and Carrie, and their trusty dog, Jack. Pioneer life is sometimes hard for the family, since they must grow or catch all their own food as they get ready for the cold winter. With the story of her conversion as a backdrop, Rosaria Butterfield invites us into her home to show us how God can use “radical, ordinary hospitality” to bring the Gospel to our lost friends and neighbors. Such hospitality sees our homes as not our own but as God’s tools for the furtherance of his kingdom as we welcome those who look, think, believe, and act differently from us into our everyday, sometimes messy lives - helping them see what true Christian faith really looks like.

Story
Turning the other cheek does not mean standing by while the enemies of God dismantle Christian civilization and brainwash our children. Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle. An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity.

Imagine where the Church would be today if the men in it were respected as they ought to be by their wives. What power would God unleash through godly men who were respected in their homes? In this short audiobook, Nancy Wilson exhorts wives to stop focusing on their husbands' problems and shortcomings and to look at their own responsibilities and learn the contentment which the Bible continually exhorts us to.
Written by: Nancy Wilson
Publisher's Summary
The swooning Victorian ladies and the 1950s housewives genuinely needed to be liberated. That much is indisputable. So, First-Wave feminists held rallies for women's suffrage. Second-Wave feminists marched for prohibition, jobs, and abortion. Today, Third-Wave feminists stand firmly for nobody's quite sure what. But modern women - who use psychotherapeutic antidepressants at a rate never before seen in history - need liberating now more than ever. The truth is, feminists don't know what liberation is. They have led us into a very boring dead end.
Eve in Exile sets aside all stereotypes of mid-century housewives, of China-doll femininity, of Victorians fainting, of women not allowed to think for themselves or talk to the men about anything interesting or important. It dismisses the pencil-skirted and stiletto-heeled executives of TV, the outspoken feminists freed from all that hinders them, the brave career women in charge of their own destinies. Once those fictionalized stereotypes are out of the way - whether they're things that make you gag or things you think look pretty fun - Christians can focus on real women. What did God make real women for?

this has broken my barriers.
well that was not what I was expecting . I will have to process and chew upon the information and learning gained for many years to come I would suspect. I have stood with ministry equality and as a pastors wife have been comfortable in my study and understanding but I will be taking some time to further pursue the Scripture and resist the women's lib movement which I know has invaded the church as well as the home... but did not see how it had been embraced in my own thoughts. thank you Rebekah for not mincing words but also being clear that there is such an incredible for women in all God has laid out for our world. ( just FYI. I am 50 this year and literally grew up with strong (child friendly) influence of the liberation movement thrust on my new Christian parents by my very liberal extended family members) I am so honored to walk in a different way with different understanding than my parents had available as first generation Christ followers... yet this influence has been accepted even in my life in some ways.
I feel exhorted... not reprimanded or shamed, but encouraged to come and see how Good God really is. that He is more than I had previously understood because of blind spots I had not been able to identify.
thank you. may the Lord strengthen you heart with this encouraging word.
blessings, Cara

The book I didn’t know I was looking for!
I believe it was providence that brought me to this book. I immediately ordered it once I finished listening to a podcast with the author being interviewed on Simple Farmhouse Life(if I remember correctly). Previously, I had never known of the woman on the podcast until it came up as a result of a search I made about homemaking. This book has endowed me with the capability to quell my anxieties in certain areas and ask for new capacity in others. I’ve already been a homemaker for 20 years but it’s not always easy - especially doing it alone (as in no community).
I will definitely be recommending this book whenever I have the opportunity to do so. Thank you so much!
