About this listen

Risk everything . . . for love with this #1 New York Times bestseller.

What if you couldn’t touch anything in the outside world? Never breathe in the fresh air, feel the sun warm your face . . . or kiss the boy next door? In Everything, Everything, Maddy is a girl who’s literally allergic to the outside world, and Olly is the boy who moves in next door . . . and becomes the greatest risk she’s ever taken.

My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He's tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

Everything, Everything will make you laugh, cry, and feel everything in between. It's an innovative, inspiring, and heartbreakingly romantic debut novel that unfolds via vignettes, diary entries, and more.

And don’t miss Nicola Yoon's The Sun Is Also A Star, the #1 New York Times bestseller in which two teens are brought together just when it seems like the universe is sending them in opposite directions.

Worth the read

I started this book while I was reading a few others, initially not giving it the attention it deserved. I thought, I’ve seen the movie, why have I purchased this book? I’ve purchased this book, because most often the movie does not give it justice. The writing is so thoughtful, capturing a story in a way a movie sometimes can’t. It can be slow and intentional, while movies sometimes make ruthless edits to ensure it is less than two hours. This is a slow burn, better than the movie, I may watch the movie again; as Nicola shares in this story sometimes you come away with something different .

Very good

I found this book after listening to another narrated by Bahni Turpin and I wasn't ready to start trying to find another narrator I liked. I was a little worried that I'd mix up the story and characters a bit but I didn't at all - Bahni does a great job at making each character different. The story was enjoyable. An easy listening type of story that does have a few little twists.

Don't bother

The story: With such a hype about this book, I was excited to read it. However, the book was too cringy. The characters had zero depth to them and the romance was subpar. Maddy, the main character, is so naive, as seen the drastic decisions she makes. The story was all over the place and made zero sense. It was so unrealistic... I know this is a book and authors can be imaginative, but her story isnt plausible.

so don't bother reading it.

Not what I thought

We got this thinking it would help with compassion in our kids but this book is nothing like the description! It’s twist (which you can see coming) made it terrible for the whole family.
