Great series!

This trilogy seems to get better the more you read it. Though this book is still amazing it doesn't seem to move at as nice of a pace as the 2 that follow. Still I can't recommend it enough.

It's always nice to see a story told from the perspective of an "evil" character (if you can call Fabius that). Fabius is clearly nuts but you feel sympathetic towards his outlook on occasion. The supporting characters and antagonists are well fleshed out and I would be interested in their own stories!

This book and series has been a good read.

A very good first insight into Bile

I was a bit hesitant at first to choose this title as most lore on fabius bile paints a picture of a mad, cruel man of monstrous intent who I thought I would despise. But I was actually pleasantly wrong.

Pros: The story is quite intriguing, the majority of the characters are quite memorable and the book does a really good job in showing the complexities of bile as a man trying to work beyond himself, to the point that I actually sympathize with him. It also gives insight to life for those in the realm of chaos that is actually kind of refreshing.

Cons: Unfortunately, due to the large amount of characters in the story, the narrator tends to repeat voices for a few which can lead to confusion on who is who. Luckly the characters name often follows a spoken line so it's not too bad. This, however, also leads into my other con: the vast amount of named characters. It can become tricky to keep count of them, especially in the last few chapters.

Overall though, an enjoyable first read into the chief apothocary that I do recommend to those curious about him; I look forward to reading the remaining two books following his exploits.

Fabius Bile is hype

It is an awesome book that showcases the complexities of the Heretic Astartes and how they are all not raving lunatics. They have lots of personality, especially those as storied as Fabius Bile.

voice actor

book and story are awesome. but this voice actor John banks is horrendous for making everyone bite off their own words while trying to sound unreasonably pompous. John keeble would have made this an amazing listen.
