At the end of the school year, Kendra and her brother, Seth, find themselves racing back to Fablehaven, a refuge for mythical and magical creatures. Grandpa Sorenson, the caretaker, invites three specialists - a potion master, a magical relics collector, and a mystical creature trapper - to help protect the property from the Society of the Evening Star, an ancient organization determined to infiltrate the preserve and steal a hidden artifact of great power.

Time is running out. The Evening Star is storming the gates. If the artifact falls into the wrong hands, it could mean the downfall of other preserves and possibly the world. Will Kendra learn to use her fairy gifts in time? Will Seth stay out of trouble? Can they overcome paralyzing fear? Find out in book 2 of this bestselling series.

Ce que les critiques en disent

" Fablehaven is a fantastical, wonderful book. Look out, J.K. Rowling; the fantasy genre has an outstanding new author to embrace!" ( BookReview.com)
"This story is so compelling and so well written you'll find its magic working on you as well, completely taking over your ability to put the book down, even for a moment." ( Columbia Daily Tribune)
"[Mull's] story offers unexpected twists and entertainingly scary creatures." ( The New York Times)

The story was good, a little repetitive but that was fine.
My main complaint was the narration
Tbh I think the narrator made Kendra seem too awkward and shy. He kept making her stutter when in the book she doesn’t. I also didn’t really like his voice for Kendra and the accent for Vanessa - it was a little to masculine rather for me. And what does Coulter sound like he’s bored every second of every day?
My other thing was the production.
There’s no space between “paragraphs” like on sentence it could be Kendra thinking about something and then with no break it just skips to Seth walking in the forest. I was a bit confused for a second sometimes, and I can’t imagine it’s that hard to make spaces between paragraphs. It’s also not only for paragraphs. Sometimes moments need a pause, like in a normal conversation but it’s not there, which makes the narration less smooth
Also, the music at the start was kind of distracting.
Overall, the narration was fine, but changing these things would have drastically changed the experience.

I find out of the five books this is the weakest one. It gets really good! My largest complaint about the audiobooks is the one reading it. Every sentence is read in complete astonishment and it sounds terrible. Reading the books was much more enjoyable.

Don’t stop here!
