About this listen

#1 New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey launches a super sexy sports romance series with a rom-com about a bad boy professional athlete who falls for his biggest fan...

Wells Whitaker was once golf’s hottest rising star, but lately, all he has to show for his “promising” career is a killer hangover, a collection of broken clubs, and one remaining supporter. No matter how bad he plays, the beautiful, sunny redhead is always on the sidelines. He curses, she cheers. He scowls, she smiles. But when Wells quits in a blaze of glory and his fangirl finally goes home, he knows he made the greatest mistake of his life.

Josephine Doyle believed in the gorgeous, grumpy golfer, even when he didn’t believe in himself. Yet after he throws in the towel, she begins to wonder if her faith was misplaced. Then a determined Wells shows up at her door with a wild proposal: be his new caddy, help him turn his game around, and split the prize money. And considering Josephine’s professional and personal life is in shambles, she could really use the cash…

As they travel together, spending days on the green and nights in neighboring hotel rooms, sparks fly. Before long, they’re inseparable, Wells starts winning again, and Josephine is surprised to find a sweet, thoughtful guy underneath his gruff, growly exterior. This hot man wants to brush her hair, feed her snacks, and take bubble baths together? Is this real life? But Wells is technically her boss and an athlete falling for his fangirl would be ridiculous… right?

The story was very well written..
The narrator did a great job.

But again a very beautiful story!!

Loved it!!!

Such a cute story!! This book had it all. It was funny, sweet, spicy and also some emotional spots at the end. I’m a sucker for grumpy/sunshine and this was exactly what I needed!!! It will for sure be a blast k I go back and listen to! Callie Dalton was fantastic, I love when she narrates. I don’t feel like I’m ever missing out on a male narrator because she’s just that good!!!

Great Story

I love the dynamics between Wells and Josephine. Tessa Bailey did a great job at giving these characters depth and I appreciate how the characters grow from the beginning of the story to the end. The self-reflection of Wells is a lovely message that people should incorporate into their lives. Bailey often has zip to her love scenes and this story has it. It may be adventurous but she does an excellent job conveying the connection between the characters. Loved this book.

Fav Tessa Bailey book

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in January? February? of 2024, but was still thinking about the story and these characters at the end of the year and decided to do a reread of the book via audio in December 2024.

The audio was fantastic! I loved the story just as much while Callie Dalton brought the characters to life. I would have loved to have a male narrator too, but Callie held her own throughout the book.

Who knew golf was sexy

I loved this. The humour, the pacing, the love story, the spice, all great. I felt like Tessa Bailey’s last few books missed the mark, but this feels like a return to her sweet spot in romcoms. Callie Dalton was the perfect choice for the narrator. All in all just a super cozy golf romcom.

DNF

I love a good rom com but this was too much. I have liked her previous work but couldn’t get through this.

inconsistent due to crass use of swearing

I thought the characters had potential, but seemed to suddenly blip into a crass inner monologue and swearing that seemed to not blend with the rest of the story. Though I found the characters initially interesting, my engagement in the story line dropped off due to this fact.

Not very good

Overall, it's a pretty low quality novel

The premise is somewhat interesting, but to be blunt, the characters are way too thirsty, before evening getting to know each other

It's not much of a romance novel, it's more lascivious like 50 Shades of Grey, lacking in character development or natural plot and conflict

Friends of the main characters are also shoehorned in just to created the premise for the next novel in the series. I greatly dislike authors that out more time into setting up their next book, rather than writing a good first one
