Publisher's Summary
A famed preacher, professor, and cultural anthropologist reveals the cancer of woke theology that has permeated seminaries and that threatens the evangelical church itself. Plus a call to all Christian congregations to eschew the lure of critical theory and hold to the path of an individual relationship with God.

We are standing on shaky ground.
As a wave of violent riots protesting the death of a black man at the hands of police shook the nation in the summer of 2020, most Americans were shocked. Christians nationwide, eager to fulfill their God-given calling to bring peace and reconciliation, took to pulpits and social media in droves to affirm that “black lives matter” and proclaim that racial justice “is a gospel issue.”
But what if those Christians, those ministers, and those powerful ministries don’t know the whole story behind the new movement that’s been making waves in their congregations? Even worse: What if they’ve been duped into adopting a set of ideas that not only don’t align with the Kingdom of God, but stand diametrically opposed to it?
In this powerful audiobook, pastor, professor, and leading cultural apologist Voddie Baucham explains the sinister worldview behind the social justice movement and how it has quietly spread like a fault system, not only through our culture, but throughout the evangelical church in America. He also details the devastation it is already wreaking—and what we can do to get back on solid ground before it’s too late.
Whether you’re a layperson who feels like you’ve just woken up in a strange new world and wonder how to engage both sensitively and effectively in the conversation on race, or a pastor who’s wondering how to deal with increasingly polarized factions within your congregation, this audiobook will provide the clarity and understanding you need to either hold your ground, or reclaim it.

Insightful and powerful
If you are a Bible-believing Christian and also hold to CRT or intersectionality, I dare you to read this book and honestly evaluate your position in light of the facts and in light of Scripture. You'll be doing yourself a favour!

I'm not sure I can buy everything this author says
The author posits that we should rely on Jesus to reconcile all sin (including racism) rather than social justice and CRT. However, claims all Christians should vote republican (apparently at all cost) in order to get anti-abortion laws passed. This inconsistency here was hard to swallow.
Ironically Voddie argues that Christians need to defend the his one true interpretation of the Bible, which only happens to put him (as a straight male) at the top, with vigor. But I'm not sold on the why.
still, an interesting read

AMAZING
I am so thankful for Voddie Baucham’s heart and ministry. His voice and message are much needed in these troubling times. Fault Lines is academic, theological, and full of storytelling. Baucham makes a good case against social justice and Critical Race Theory. Most importantly, he explains how it is infiltrating, dividing, and causing catastrophy in the church. I enjoyed his perspective, he is a credible source, seeing that he is a black man. Lastly, I want to point out that I truly appreciated how he debunked many myths pertaining to what is widely accepted in culture in many churches. May God bless and protect Voddie!

old definitions limit validity of argument
The author uses a very specific, very narrow, 1980s definition of Critical Race Theory (CRT); with no regard as to how this theory (or any other theory for they matter) has changed in the last 50 years. His arguments would have made more sense 50 years ago than they do today. The theory / terms and issues he critiques are not the same as the ones we see today in the year 2023. Half a century of changing definitions and understandings makes a big difference - I'm not sure his arguments apply given that he uses definitions/terms that are now understood differently and have a changed meaning to the "general lay population".
His academic approach is admirable. It would only be made more substantial by applying his analysis to the modern use of terms and definitions such as CRT, but alas, this has yet to be done.
