Feeling Great lives up to the title!

It’s probably been about 20 years since I read Feeling Good for the first time. Like many, it was life changing. So how does Feeling Great stack up? It’s exactly what I had hoped for. A modern evolution of CBT with an emphasis on motivation, empathy, and the unique approach needed for each individual. I admit, I was a skeptic at first, but with an open mind, and putting the methods to the test, it’s hard not to find this approach life changing. Major gratitude to Dr. Burns for his generosity, courage, and fortitude to get this content out there and help make this life a truly better experience for all those in need.

It works!!

I am a family doctor and have fought disabling “anxiety and depression” for almost 5 decades. His first book was helpful for myself and my patients but I didn’t use it diligently enough so ended up completely “burned out”. I have rediscovered Dr Burns recently (“feeling good together” and “feeling great”) and I can honestly say I am no longer disabled. I used to feel like I was a rat in a terrier’s mouth and now I can almost instantly reduce my anxiety to 10% of what it was by using his techniques. And my (second) marriage is improving too. I am the grateful recipient of Dr Burn’s lifetime of hard work and research!!

Great content and production

Thanks to other reviewers. I received the supplementary material after emailing the publisher at : echopointaudio [at] gmail [dot] com

The book is great and the audio production is thoughtful especially when summarizing tables. Very easy to listen to.

Not a audio book, it is a Work book.

Most frustrating "Book" ever listened to.

Every chapter has long questions/ charts and answers to write down. You will need a printer or a computer program to write on a PDF or Word document. By chapter 10, the author has spoken about several stories of individuals. The reader has to learn and understand several complex techniques that each person used in each story. There are over 32 techniques. There is not a list of 32 techniques and I ended up googling many of them because I could not find clear explanation in the "book".

Then Chaper 10, you pick one specific event you want help with. Then start filling out endless tables, charts, list ect. As the chapter goes on the auther assumes you are able to complete each task ( there are many) and moves on. To move along with the book you have to complete each technique about your specific event. The author keeps referring to answers and different list and follow up techniques from thoes charts, list, percentages, ect.

The reader has to recognize what parts of there thoughts are distorted and if you can't, then the aithor statesyou are doing it wrong. If you can not firgure it out you can't continue in the work book.

Most of the audio is the author reading word for word different charts and each persons answers from there situation. If you did not know the author has a website and podcast, will remind you of this endless amount of times during the audio.

The book might work if you know the one specific event that is causing your symptoms, if you know what all your emotions and thoughts about the event are, if you can learn 32+ different techniques and how to apply them to your situation.

Narcissist at the finest level

Almost as bad as Jordan Peterson. Inexcusable actions towards his patients by so-called doctor. Cognitive behavioural therapy may be an option for a select few but for the greater audience of chronic pain, illness and disease you can look elsewhere.
