Publisher's Summary
Pregnancy is not just a trek from one medical appointment to another but a journey of the heart. Here at last is a guidebook through its sacred terrain. For each week, Orthodox doula Laura Jansson provides a new reflection on a theme specific to the ground covered at that stage. From one milestone to the next, she helps us unearth the spiritual treasures buried within the physical experiences of childbearing. These are gifts of love from a merciful God who reaches out to us, making a perilous expedition into a path of salvation.

Phenomenally insightful, captivatingly written, profoundly Orthodox.
This book is simply beautiful. Beautifully and earnestly written and narrated. Jansson artfully weaves captivating stories together with deeply moving insights. With poetic genius she leads the reader to Orthodox-grounded insights on motherhood, death and rebirth, self-sacrifice, physical and spiritual weakness and strength, fear and wonder... really it’s an encyclopedia of reflections that are at times so counter-cultural, so refreshing, and oh-so-needed in our modern, tired world.
The conviction and comfort of her words have motivated me to reread it for what I know won’t be the last time!
The worst thing about the book is when it ended I found myself yearning for a book by this brilliant Orthodox author on the next step in the journey - parenting!
