About this listen

The Iron Prince will claim his crown.

Reidon Ward's first semester at the Galens Institute hasn't been without reward. In just over half a year he's gone from the weakest cadet at school to one of the strongest in his class, and there's no one left who would argue that his Device, Shido, isn't the most terrifying CAD they've ever laid eyes on. Still, Rei knows that his climb has barely begun, like he knows that the true fight is only just starting.

After all… The Sectionals tournament has arrived.

Rei, along with Aria, Viv, Catcher, and a couple unexpected squadmates, are about to face the first real battle of their careers. Squaring off with some of the best Users in the Astra System, they're going to have to put everything they have—as individuals and as a team—into their coming fights if they want to ultimately end up standing at the top. As ever, though, their journey is hardly bound to be a smooth one.

Especially not when Rei and Aria begin to suspect that Shido may be even more formidable than it appears, much less as the powerful entities who've already taken notice of the 'Iron Prince of Galens' begin to make their moves, some casting their hands in his favor, others very much against…

One of the few true 5 star book series

You know a lot of times you rate a book 5 stars. it was good enough, you have no reason not to support the artist and his book. but then you read a series like this one and it feels unfair you can't do more than just rate it a 5 star because it is sooooooo much more than all those other 5 stars books you rated.

This series is a must have for any collection already and it's only 2 books in. This is coming from someone who typically can't stand any books involving a class of teens. but when something is done this well that apparently doesn't matter.

Big cheers to the author and narrator!

can't wait for the next one

I've enjoyed listening to the story progress and give hints of what's to come. The entire cast of characters are entertaining making even the parts not focused on our main character enjoyable.

A much more interesting follow-up

This sequel has a lot more going on in terms of plot development. We have shadowy background figures, we have concerned families, we have more crazy fights. There's a tournament arc, and who doesn't love a tournament arc? The narrator did really well with keeping voices distinct, although I thought some characters were uh, a little pirate-y. I'm not mad, I just wasn't ready.

I think we see a lot of growth in a lot of characters, which is great, but personally I found Viv to be increasingly tedious as the story progressed. Like, honestly, she makes every situation she's in worse by intentionally being vague and wishy-washy. Like, girl, you're being prepared for war, learn to communicate.

I'm really looking forward to the next book! Would listen to again.

Unnecessary drama

Vis is so annoying I feel like the whole drama was so unnecessary and not at the right time.
