Publisher's Summary

Aria and her sisters return to the Human Realm of Haven Falls to find one of their own that’s gone missing. They soon discover things have changed in the Human Realm and that nothing is what it seems, including Knox, the egotistical, self-centered, frustratingly gorgeous man who declared himself King during their absence.

Sparks fly when the two enter a fiery battle of wills as Aria learns she is more than just a witch in the Hecate bloodline; she is much, much, more.

Will Aria embrace her savage side to find her sister and save her family, or will she burn to ashes from his heated kisses and burning hot embrace?

Knox has ulterior motives for being in Haven Falls and never expected the little witch to show up and brazenly challenge his rule.

It was supposed to be easy; get in and get out. Move pieces into place and set the stage for the war he’s been planning for over 500 years. Aria is his sworn enemy but something within her calls to him and he hates himself for craving the fiery kisses that have reignited his cold, dead heart. One taste, and he thought he could get her out of his system. He was wrong.

Will Knox let go of the memories of the past, driving his need for revenge that will destroy the pretty little witch he craves, or will he push the boundaries to fight for and claim what is his by right? Either way, war is inevitable. And nothing will stop him from reaching for what is his.

Epic fantasy with heavy love-hate situations with adult situations.

Ew.

I’m👏🏼So👏🏼Tired👏🏼Of👏🏼Books👏🏼That👏🏼Glorify👏🏼Virginity👏🏼And👏🏼Assault👏🏼

So, major trigger warning: there are constant issues of consent in this book. Constant. And I mean constant.......

I really should have known better, but I was intrigued. People were saying this was bad, but like, how bad?

My realization: Epic bad. My constant thought: Ew.

The only reason why I kept reading was because I abused my return privileges with Audible (lol) and couldn't return the audiobook. (Lesson learned: be careful with them returns!!)

Ultimately...while reading this book if I wasn't uncomfortable, then I was laughing at how ridiculous it is.

Tropes played into:
- No means yes
- Clumsy, innocent, virginal girl attracts the ancient, womanizing powerful man and he’s consumed with the need to claim her
- Women only become women when their virginity is taken by a man
- Coveted virginity
The list goes on...

An actual quote, said by the main love interest, that aptly describes every male perspective towards women in this book: “women are like exotic cars, they need to be driven fast, hard and often”

There are so many problematic instances: stalking, assault, sexual assault, rape, voyeurism, gaslighting, coercion, manipulation, no respect for privacy, no respect for women if we're being honest... I'm not about books having to be saintly in the slightest, BDSM and have rough sex all you want, just keep it consensual, maybe add in a safe word? And listen to your partner when they say no? Or cry? Maybe?

Look, creepy characters exist, bad characters exist, flawed characters exist and bad things happen to our main characters in books all the time, books mirror life, these are aspects that drive a story, pushes development, flaws, strengths, decision making, humanity etc. but the problematic aspects for me are when the main characters perpetuate issues like that in their relationships with no revelation that it's problematic. It normalizes things. It normalizes bad relationships, rape culture, the idea that men and women are and have to be certain ways. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

For instance, the main character is literally raped (though it's not called that in the book), and the next moment her love interest is manhandling her, sneaking up on her when she's sleeping, initiating activities when she's unconscious. Just saying, the last half of the book was some dark shit, and by that point I'd hit my limit for indignity and violence against women, which is essentially a constant state of affairs for the whole novel.

Also, can we please PLEASE stop writing books that covet virginity and consider a woman losing her virginity to a man to be her graduation into womanhood? It's gross. Kinda like how this book is gross.

Ultimately, reading this wasn't worth the curiosity satisfaction.

Loved it

I read a few reviews before deciding to buy the book that mentioned there being too much smut and it taking away from the story but I quite enjoy the amount of it. I liked the dynamic between the two main characters and absolutely loved the story and plot line. I highly recommend it.

Just not it for me.

I'm going to return it, I personally couldn't finish it. There's an outrageous amount of f*bombs dropped. Like holy unnecessary. I say this as someone who swears like a sailor. It's to the point it's taking away from the characters. Also so far there's way too much sex and explicit content that isn't adding anything to the story in ratio to the actual story line. It's very rapey and cringey smut which if that's your thing, cool. I need a lot more to a story than just constant sex. To add to it there's a lot of slut shaming going on as well? I honestly would have thought a male wrote this by the amount of sexism and bigotry in it... The males smell a virgin and all start thrusting their hips and fighting each other.
I don't know if it was just the story itself, but I didn't really enjoy the narrator either.

Trigger warning might’ve been a good thing to start the book with

Ok so, it is twisted, there is most definitely some very questionable content of consent and a lot of rape. I found myself recoiling at many things being said and done throughout the book. I feel like a trigger warning at the beginning for the sensitive hearts and people with issues would probably be a good idea. As for the plot itself, it’s definitely not the the story of the year but it was entertaining enough to finish the book.

is realy bad but i finished

This is not a good book, BUT I did finish it in record time.
The world itself is really cool but the characters are one-dimensional the dialogue is BAD and a lot of saying instead of showing exposition.
the 🌶 spicy 🌶 was also the same +….. issues with consent and virginity bs. every feminine bone in my body cringed while reading this book. but it’s scratched an edge so 🤷🏾‍♀️

I finished it in record time, but...

I loved the opening to this book. The introductions of all the main characters was very engaging. I found myself struggling shortly after that though until about half was through. I feel the story went stagnant for that time, but it picked back up with a very good hook. I read a lot of reviews that said there was too much smut, which I don't necessarily agree with, but there are certainly times where the dark erotic tension is the only thing going on. However, when actual story elements pick back up I was entranced until the end.

Interesting but not great

The storyline is interesting, it did leave me wanting more but I gotta say I could do with less smut, I think sometimes less is more and when it comes to smut on this series less is more... the performance was great and I love having glimpses of the male mc pov
