Love Triangle in Space

Allowances being made for the “traditional” SF of the era, this is a surprisingly tense story. The narration makes the dynamic between the three key players both tender and terrifying. I am intrigued as to what the final book in the trilogy will bring.

Great listen, tight intrigue, great twists

This is some Bova at his best, mixing hard science fiction with personal intrigue / mystery. He delivers some shocking twists in the form of surprise plot questions rather than conclusions, so instead of an unexpected body dropping we get an unexpected possibility thrust into the narrative that we then follow through.

It's the second of the series but it stands by itself perfectly well. Having the benefit of the first installment is really not at all essential to enjoying this one and it ends in a contained and satisfactory way without undermining the coming volume.

It is a pretty old story but it wears well, perhaps because it is mostly about the personal conflicts and challenges involved in interstellar escape rather than the finest details of the science.

At 4.5 hours it is a short, entertaining listening well worth your time if it's on Plus or a daily deal.
