About this listen

A BATTLE FOR THE SOUL OF HAUNTED LOS ANGELES

Why did Cecil B. DeMille really bury the Pharaoh's Palace set after he filmed The Ten Commandments in 1923? Fugitives Sebastian Vickery and Ingrid Castine find themselves plunged into the supernatural secrets of Los Angeles - from Satanic indie movies of the '60s, to the unqiet La Brea Tar Pits at midnight, to the haunted Sunken City off the coast of San Pedro...pursued by a Silicon Valley guru who is determined to incorporate their souls into the creation of a new and predatory World God.

Another amazing story! Casteen and Vickery return

A gripping story from start to finish. Tim powers does not disappoint. Once again he has woven a tale that is almost impossible to describe. Set in modern-day Los Angeles this story nevertheless harkens back to a time in the sixties somehow when everything was magical and possible and also just a little flaky. The cast of characters are all so interesting and colorful. The narration is really good and conveys the characters beautifully. My only comment would be that sometimes his voice is very low and I found I had to turn the volume up a lot. All told it was an excellent story and I really can't wait for the next one
