About this listen
From bondage to freedom!
Introduced to heroine and alcohol for the first time at the tender age of eight-years-old programmed me and opened up a flood gate of feel good receptors in my brain, causing a high that I spent years trying to recreate over and over again.
I later used alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, and marijuana to mask the insecurities I felt as a young black gay male while trying to fit into a societal norm that everyone expected of me. My substance abuse became a safe haven for me and helped me numb my emotions and feelings as I navigated through life hiding my true self from everyone.
I wrote this book in hopes that it would reach someone who is struggling to become sober and who may also be struggling to live in the truth of who they are. In this book, I reveal how I became sober for over seven years after being addicted to drugs and alcohol for over two decades on my own terms, and how I learned to love and accept myself.
