About this listen
Over 40 years ago, Games People Play revolutionized our understanding of what really goes on during our most basic social interactions. More than five million copies later, Dr. Eric Berne's classic is as astonishing and revealing as it was on the day it was first published. We play games all the time---sexual games, marital games, power games with our bosses, and competitive games with our friends. Detailing status contests like "Martini" (I know a better way), to lethal couples combat like "If It Weren't For You" and "Uproar," to flirtation favorites like "The Stocking Game" and "Let's You and Him Fight," Dr. Berne exposes the secret ploys and unconscious maneuvers that rule our intimate lives. Explosive when it first appeared, Games People Play is now widely recognized as the most original and influential popular psychology book of our time. It's as powerful and eye-opening as ever.

For as long as salespeople have been asking buyers to make commitments, buyers have been throwing out objections. And, for as long as buyers have been saying no, salespeople have yearned for the secrets to getting past those NOs. Why are you captivated by some people but not by others? Why do you recall some brands yet forget the rest? In a distracted, overcrowded world, how do certain leaders, friends, and family members convince you to change your behavior? Answer: fascination, the most powerful way to influence decision-making. It's more persuasive than marketing, advertising, or any other form of communication. And it all starts with seven universal triggers: lust, mystique, alarm, prestige, power, vice, and trust.

Great introduction to theory and concepts
This is a book that may be better as a paperback than in audio format. I found the concepts in this book to be very insightful and helpful. That being said, I also found it difficult to follow and retain the information. It has some dated ideas but is a great introduction to the theory of games in relationships. I would like to see more current studies from those in the field. Even with its shortcomings, it is still very worthwhile and recommended.

Robotic Voice
This is a book you likely need a physical copy for, it’s a little too technical to be visualized and the reader is a robot.

Likely a great book
I ordered as it seemed like a good way to understand some basics. It is written in such a way that a therapist would get a lot more out of it than a layperson. Hard to follow in this format as well.
