About this listen
When 20-year-old Jay Mohr moved to New York City, he never thought he would land his first real job on Saturday Night Live. But he did - and what followed were two crazy years of trying to keep up with his talented cast mates and get on the air as often as possible.
Jay offers an intimate first-person account of the inner workings of Saturday Night Live - the audition, the pitch meetings, and how skits make the final cut of the show. Jay also dishes on the guest hosts (Travolta, Doherty, Baldwin, Barkley), the musical guests (Cobain, Tyler, Clapton), and, of course, his Saturday Night Live cast mates (Farley, Sandler, Myers). This book is refreshingly honest and laugh-out-loud funny.

SNL 101
If you enjoy comedy and are a fan of SNL this is a great audiobook. Jay Mohr really explains what anxiety feels like . His audiobook is a backstage VIP pass !

Deep Dive into Saturday Night Live
Even though I don't remember much of Jay Mohr from SNL, I know who he is, and I've seen him in many other things. I like SNL, and this book was available for free through my membership, so I decided to check it out, and I wasn't disappointed.
Jay Mohr does an excellent job reading the book: his voice is pleasant to listen to, and he does many amazing impressions throughout.
The main focus of the book is his work on Saturday Night Live, and he goes very deep into the behind the scenes of the show, and I found this very interesting and compelling. Which cast members mentored him? Which hosts refused to do his sketches? What is it like to get (or not get) a sketch on the show? I couldn't stop listening.
It's pretty clear from the title of the book that Mohr's time on the show tended toward being frustrating, but I didn't find that he was whiny about the whole thing. It seems like he has enough distance from it to be able to talk about it without wallowing in self pity.

A good read!
I found the book great. I also suffer from anxiety so it was interesting to hear it from someone else struggling with it. We also enjoy Saturday Night live so hearing the behind the scenes stories were also great. I look forward to seeing more of Jay in the future.
