A Warhammer 40,000 Audiobook

Archmagos Belisarius Cawl invites representatives from across the Imperium, hoping to secure their assistance in unlocking the secrets of the pylon network. Among the attendees, however, is an uninvited guest who may possess the only mind in the galaxy greater than that of the fabled Archmagos…

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

The showdown of two much-loved characters finally occurs – Fabius Bile vs Belisarius Cawl. Each is a genius in their own right, and both are willing to do things most others won't to achieve their goals.

Which of these two megaminds will come out victorious?

THE STORY

In the hope of taming the Great Rift that divides the galaxy in two, Archmagos Belisarius Cawl invites representatives from across the Imperium to the artificial world of Pontus Avernes. Confident he can convince them of his genius, he must secure their assistance in unlocking the secrets of the pylon network – significant structures built by an ancient race that he believes can stave off the pull of the warp. But among the attendees is an uninvited guest: Fabius Bile himself.

The Pater Mutatis needs no validation of his genius and has his own agendas, the pursuit of which will bring about an epic confrontation of the galaxy’s greatest scientific minds – and from which only one can emerge victorious.

Written by Guy Haley. Narrated by John Banks. Run time 10hrs 15mins (approx).

Great intro into Cawl and Bile. may have repurcussions later...

good story, definitely interesting. Cawl and Bile go head to head. I think the Mechanicus parts with politics is the best part. the narrator has trouble doing Cawl and Bile's voice when they're together, so it's hard to tell them apart when they finally meet. there are some worthless characters, Mundo ones that exist only to die to prove the strength of another and some existing to satisfy readers of the past Cawl book, The Great Work. not necessary to read before this though.

Two makers of science with different idealogies

Unlike the Infinite and the Divine, this is not two nerds that battle it out through millennia of backstabbing and almost comical means of display, but rather two fine gentlemen who are playing a game of real-life Regicide with the respect and admiration for one another, even though that praise is summarily one-sided if Cawl never admits to it.

Genefather is incisive, well-thought and a drive forward to Cawl's next project plan and other essential facts that must be dressed out. There were some iffy moments in specific chapters, and I felt a disconnection with some characters that required more fleshing out on the Chaos part.

Since John Banks had done works from the Great Work and Fabius Bile trilogy, it is not surprising that he is the narrator of the tale. He sounded as crisp, clear and hollow as the rest of his works he has done before, but as my third favourite narrator, his performance is good enough to get the right tone on Fabius Bile and Bellisarius Cawl in respect.

What a book!

Listening to the ideas of two brilliant minds and how each one of them wants to save the universe was amazing. I hope we see these two met each other again in the near future.
