Publisher's Summary
INTERNATIONAL BEST SELLER • From the author of Everything I Know About Love comes a smart, sexy, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy about ex-boyfriends, imperfect parents, friends with kids, and a man who disappears the moment he says "I love you."
“An absolute knock-out. Wickedly funny and, at turns, both cynical and sincere… feels like your very favorite friend.”—Taylor Jenkins Reid, author of Malibu Rising
ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR: NPR, VOGUE, PEOPLE
Nina Dean is not especially bothered that she's single. She owns her own apartment, she's about to publish her second book, she has a great relationship with her ex-boyfriend, and enough friends to keep her social calendar full and her hangovers plentiful. And when she downloads a dating app, she does the seemingly impossible: She meets a great guy on her first date. Max is handsome and built like a lumberjack; he has floppy blond hair and a stable job. But more surprising than anything else, Nina and Max have chemistry. Their conversations are witty and ironic, they both hate sports, they dance together like fools, they happily dig deep into the nuances of crappy music, and they create an entire universe of private jokes and chemical bliss.
But when Max ghosts her, Nina is forced to deal with everything she's been trying so hard to ignore: her father's dementia is getting worse, and so is her mother's denial of it; her editor hates her new book idea; and her best friend from childhood is icing her out. Funny, tender, and eminently, movingly relatable, Ghosts is a whip-smart tale of relationships and modern life.

Martha Friel just turned forty. Once, she worked at Vogue and planned to write a novel. Now, she creates internet content. She used to live in a pied-à-terre in Paris. Now she lives in a gated community in Oxford, the only person she knows without a PhD, a baby or both, in a house she hates but cannot bear to leave. But she must leave, now that her husband Patrick—the kind who cooks, throws her birthday parties, who loves her and has only ever wanted her to be happy—has just moved out.

From the creator of the beloved and universally acclaimed television series BoJack Horseman, a fabulously off-beat collection of short stories about love - the best and worst thing in the universe. Equally at home with the surreal and the painfully relatable (and both at once), Bob-Waksberg delivers a killer combination of humor, romance, whimsy, cultural commentary, and crushing emotional vulnerability.

Keeps you intrigued
I really enjoyed the character development. The story itself was very relatable and I found myself rooting for Nina. Love a good cliffhanger ending

Fantastic piece of work and art but I can’t get over those last few pages…
This book was very very beautifully written and the topics discussed in it were talked and tackled even more beautifully. (I just finished this an hour ago or so) It was a very charming and funny book at times. But I personally couldn’t give the book a full five stars because the ending just kind of lost me. And I don’t know if I could happily recommend this to someone knowing how amazing the book is up until the last few chapters.
SPOILER- for this bit ‼️
I personally think Max deserved a better ending instead of coming back and ghosting Nina all over again I seen it as a waste plainly and where the book I think may have started to lose me. Personally i think Max’s story should have had more depth when he came back the twists and turns of rebuilding trust with an amazing woman such as Nina and figuring out true happiness meant to him overall and this is not me saying he and Nina should have had this perfect ever after but at least some sort of character building for him instead of him just telling a little bit of back story and then ghosting again…
(Sorry for the rant)
ANYHOW! But it might just be me and what I thought but definitely give it a shot! I want to read more of Dolly Alderton’s work so if you have any recs -please let me know.
