In the blink of an eye, everyone disappears. Gone. Except for the young. There are teens, but not one single adult. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no Internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what's happened. Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents - unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers - that grow stronger by the day. It's a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen, a fight is shaping up. Townies against rich kids. Bullies against the weak. Powerful against powerless. And time is running out: on your birthday, you disappear just like everyone else.

Michael Grant's Gone has been praised for its compelling storytelling, multidimensional characters, and multiple points of view.

I enjoyed the book. The narrator was good at being engaged and portraying the emotion of the characters. However, the overall tone/ voice of the narrator wasn’t for me, and the portrayal of female voices was difficult to look (or I guess “hear”) past.

Decent experience

I need books on in the background when I’m doing menial tasks or going to sleep. This one was pretty good.

I've read this entire series so I figured I would give it a listen as well. However, I won't make it past this book due to the performance. The way he says "Sam said" is so cringy. There is such an emphasis when he says "name, said". It ruins the performance for me.

Great story line, bad performance.

I expected a pretty average YA series with super powers and teams walking around trying to survive/save the world. I expected a lot of overused tropes and flat characters with some over the top drearyness and edge. And I got all of that but it was also better than I expected. The powers weren't particularly interesting but the story and the characters kept me listening and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it! Would recommend if you're looking for an interesting simple read

worth every penny. I own a paperback and the audio book. it was a pleasure to read along with the narrator. highly recommend this book to anyone who lives a good dystopian story about a teenage hero.
