A group of Telugu Nayakkers are forced to migrate from their ancestral village when their King wants to marry the youngest daughter of the family. After a long arduous journey south they settle down in a forest patch in south Tamil Nadu, clear it and start a living there, calling the place - Gopalla Gramam.
