About this listen
Four-time Emmy Award winner David Hyde Pierce is famous for playing the lovably self-important Dr. Niles Crane in the hit TV series Frasier. Now, he brings the same wit and charming arrogance to his Signature Classics performance of Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels.
More than just a mock travel book and fabulous adventure, Gulliver’s Travels is a character study and social satire that skewers politics, science, religion, philosophy, and pretentiousness with a bite and resonance that remains as fresh today as the day it was published. Maybe that’s why it hasn’t been out of print in nearly 300 years.
Set sail with David Hyde Pierce for a smart, fun, new Gulliver’s Travels experience that’s unlike any other. And stay tuned for more one-of-a-kind performances from actors Leelee Sobiesky, Casey Affleck, Tim Curry, and more, only from Audible Signature Classics.

A classic well delivered.
The story is a classic work of both satire and adventure, still relavent today. The narrator delivers the work with ease, at a good pace, with flawless articulation of the text. I look forward to listening to more of his readings in the future.

Excellent narration!
A very unusual book, and one that I’m glad finally to have read - with an absolutely stellar performance by David Hyde Pierce. His narration was perfect, and truly very easy to follow despite the archaisms of the written text. And I hereby award 5 additional stars for his narration of the book’s final section, in which he incorporates a horse’s whinny into all Houyhnhnm pronunciations without so much as missing a beat in his droll narration.

One of the greats about poop and pee
I understand this is satire. Just not my type. If you like hearing about lots of disgust poop and pee and other excrement then do read this long laborious book.

Most entertaining
I very much enjoyed David Hyde Pierce’s narration of Gulliver’s Travels. Not having read the book since childhood, I was thoroughly entertained, and at times was entranced.

A masterpiece
Perfect narrator for an amazing novel. The prose is incredibly lucid and makes for very easy listening. This is the first time a book has ever made me laugh out loud. Highly recommended.
