Publisher's Summary
The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: Become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.
Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1: Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.
Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem-staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: Being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

Great book
First off love this book and can’t wait to listen to the next…. But omg Seth’s accent …. I’ve read other reviews and they were complaining about how bad the French accent is… yes it’s horrible but it’s not just that…. The accent completely changes!!! Most of the book Seth has an Eastern European accent then it morphs into a terrible French accent. Lol …. I can’t believe they have left it like this!!!
I like the person who is doing the voices …. all accept the disaster that is Seth’s!!! I hope it’s better in the next book. Also why does he have an accent….. his names Seth.. if he’s French where’s the French name… is he greek where’s the Greek name…. It’s weird

Awesome book!! Awful voice
I love love love the story but god damn when she reads the male parts it sounds like she’s trying to impersonate Nicolas cage and there’s no distinction between characters if u zoned out at all your not sure which male is talking and she makes the characters sound over concerned and
Whiny there’s no upbeat cheeky banter voices like I feel there should’ve been

Mixed Emotions
Great read but Jennifer has written WAY better books. I had mixed emotions with this book. It reminded me too much of other books. 😉

Great story not my favorite voice
The voice actress does a good job for the most part but her voice goes to this weird nasally place at times that is really harsh. I can tell it’s when she’s forcing a word or a voice. When she uses her natural voice it’s actually lovely.

For teens...
If you’re a teenager you’ll like this because apparently it’s about a 17 year old girl crushing on an older boy, desperate to have sex and doing reckless teenage sh*t without thinking of the consequences. I don’t know why I thought it was gonna be different so by chapter four I started skipping.
The narrator was perfect for this book because her voice sounded like a teen girl.

Overaged for this…
I’ve read a number of books possibly more geared to teens, but perhaps none so much as this one. The protagonist gets so annoying. For someone wanting to have vengeance at her mother’s killers, she sure whines a lot. She wants to be at this place but keeps mocking the rules despite knowing she’s under threat of being kicked out. Ug seriously… so annoying.

Awful narrator
I really want to give this book a try, but I’m not sure I can muscle through this narration! I did read the warnings about the nasally voice, but figured it wouldn’t bother me too much. I was wrong… It’s really bad!
