Publisher's Summary

Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father - the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership.

In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner…are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon, Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side...and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

What the critics say

“Take one half-human/half-vampire female with serious anger and parental issues, add in a sexy ancient vampire with his own agenda, and you have the makings for a truly combustible series. Sign me up for the sequel!” (Romantic Times)

Just meh

I was looking for something in the vein of Darynda Jones' Charley Davidson series and this was suggested on Fantastic Fiction. At about 4 chapters in I thought the main character, Cat, was lacking on the social scale and, frankly, pretty stunned. I was going to return it but couldn't so I kept listening. All in all it was okay, I guess. The story itself wasn't bad but Tavia Gilbert doesn't seem to me to be the right narrator for this and that may be why I didn't quite enjoy it. She is too dramatic and whiney-sounding for someone who should sound more confident at killing things, I probably won't get more of the series but it was worth a try. I admit I'm curious about Bones' reaction after he gets back so I might listen to another if there's nothing else that suits my mood.

hooked

I had trouble pressing the stop button. The accents were a little grating but you eventually get used to it. Overall it was a terrific listen and I can't wait to start the next book in this series

Not what I was looking for

It started out fairly good but to be honest, I started getting suspicious when it said Cat had no friends, she’s 23 years old and is way more naive than any 23 year old has any right to be. The only side characters are fairly annoying (mom and grandparents) and cardboard cut-outs. There’s no depth to them. I stopped reading after her friend Timmy was introduced and it became clear he was only there to serve as jealousy-bait for the alpha male lead. I actually kinda liked him until then. I’m returning this one, not worth it. DNF at 65%

I read the books when they first came out

I read her books when they first came out. I must admit, romance novels are not really my thing. same for most guys, this one however caught my attention. I have always loved Frosts books, and to now hear them read by Tavia is a complete treat. would highly recommend.

Awesome Book!

This storey kept me interested and excited to hear more. The narrator does a excellent job with the voices. This is the first audiobook in a long time that I have truly enjoyed. I can’t wait to start the next book in the series.

Weak story, but fun

Man, weak writing, decent reading, but Bones English accent was a cockney nightmare. Like, bad Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins bad.

Fantastic!

I adore Cat and Bones and can't wait to continue the story. Both characters are so real that you feel real emotions about what they go through and when they come to love.

The narrator was amazing! She really. drought the story to life and I really hope she narrates all the books in the series. It wouldn't be the same without her.
