Wow! What an amazing read! Great writing. Great research. Can’t wait to read something else from the same author.

Slow start but be patient it is worth it.

I really do NOT care for the narrator, Larry McKeever, but I loved the book. I had to switch to reading it on my kindle because McKeever’s voice was so annoying. Unfortunately, it seems that McKeever narrates all of Michener’s books. We travel to Hawaii often so learning the history through Michener’s stories made our last trip so much more meaningful.

Great but I can hear other people talking

You can hear other people talking when the narrator pauses, it's like you can hear other narrators recording other books

Hawaii - James A Michener

Michener has a way of giving you a visual of history like you were watching it live. Reading his books can however take a lot of time. Being able to listen to the #Audible1 audio tape while driving has allowed me to get through several of his 50+ hour books. Hawaii was an amazing tale from the volcanic activity that raised the land out of the ocean to the first native people. The story carries throughout history following various families who were very important in the shaping of Hawaii including a behind the scene account of Pearl Harbor. I strongly recommend this to anyone who enjoys history or just a great story.
