About this listen
Dr. John E. Sarno, author of the revolutionary book Mind Over Back Pain, is a medical pioneer whose program has helped patients overcome their back conditions- without drugs or dangerous surgery. Now, using his latest research into TMS, Dr. Sarno goes one step further. After identifying stress and other psychological factors in back pain, he demonstrates how many of his patients have then gone on to heal themselves without exercise or other physical therapy.
Discover why self-motivated and successful people are prone to TMS, how anxiety and repressed anger trigger muscle spasms, how people "train themselves" to experience back pain, and how you may get relief from back pain within two to six weeks by recognizing TMS and its causes.

Good read
Very interesting read. This book acknowledges the strength of the mind-body connection and suggests a route to addressing not only back pain, but other types of pain as well. While I understand the theory, I need more information to apply it.

really helpful info
the information in this book was really helpful to me, however it would have been better if it extended into more detailed info about the actual course of what to do.

Yup 👍
Man, why do two whole years of pain have to go by for me to realize it's all in my head. I was disabled!! DISABLED!! Had to ask my roomates to carry 1L of milk back from the pharmacy for me because I couldn't bear anything that heavy. I slept at night with my duvet folded up, wrapped around my neck and tucked under my bum so my head wouldn't move and with two pillows to level my spine. Ridiculous.... I still have some remaining pain but I am no longer disabled, I'm happy to report! And my pain will never stop me from doing what I please.

A great first step
This book introduced me to the concept of TMS. The book itself is more of a sales pitch for Sarno’s lectures, with very little insight into the kind of techniques you need to use to be well again. However, it was what led me on my TMS journey, and eventually how I discovered an app which elaborated on his teachings, and because of that I am now pain free. Since Sarno was the first person to identify TMS, I will forever be grateful to have my life back. I am in a far better place in every aspect of my life than I have ever been before.

What are you waiting for?
If you're reading these reviews then you are still stuck in your pain. I am a 25 year chronic low back pain sufferer. I found Dr. Sarno's books one month ago and read all three. My pain went away one week later and has not been back since even during one of the most stressful two weeks of my entire life.
This is the Bible for TMS. Read this one first and then his other two. Then if you feel you still need more search Steve Ozanich.
Steve's work is fantastically complementary and important. He is the leading go to guy today for TMS since the passing of Dr. Sarno. Dr. Sarno and Steve are all you need.

I have my life back thanks to this book! And you can too!
I suffered five years of disabling chronic pain, discovered Sarno’s work just over a year ago. I was desperate to get my life back and felt hopeless as to whether I’d ever play music again which is my passion. Today im playing the drums for hours each day, doing yoga, playing basketball and tennis, backpacking 6 hour hikes. I don’t know I ever would have gotten to this point of healing without discovering and committing to sarno’s work. If you’re deciding if it’s worth trying, give it a real good go it might just save your life.

Good concept
Goof concept and i appreciate Dr Sarno's discovery and am sure he helped a lot of people with his treatment. However, the book spent a bit too much pages on convince the treatment works but very little info on 'how to' so we reader can try to practise on our own.
