About this listen

Fearing the Lord is not a new concept, and it has been with us since before recorded history began. One of our oldest texts written in Hebrew tells us that "The fear (respect) which you have deserveth praises" (Deuteronomy 10:12). This verse reminds me always to be respectful towards others because they are people too!

Another famous passage from scripture says, "A fools mouth hateth knowledge but a wise man buildeth his house". (Proverbs 14:15). Here, we see how wisdom comes from those who value learning more than anything else while respecting those who already know many things; this includes allowing them their space without interrupting or speaking poorly about what could make someone angry. We see the goodness of God. We are made in his image, and it's our job to love him with all that we have and show others how they can glorify him too!

To fear disappointing God is a much bigger deal than disappointments from our parents. Our relationship with him has been built on an infinitely more valuable foundation: Love and respect for his holiness, not out of obligation. Because it's right to have those feelings toward the maker who created you in his image (which also means he can handle hearing how imperfectly we're doing), to feel like you need someone else's approval before disappointing them might be similar - though less intense. Some people experience this when they worry about letting down their family members or close friends due to carelessness rather than loyalty towards these individuals.

Many say they want to live a life of wisdom, but those with a fear of God in their hearts do. The Lord gives us the ability and courage for what he wants from each person. The Lord is your greatest blessing, and you should never forget that.
