About this listen

He’s forged from heaven. She’s promised to hell.

Professor Maximus Kane can no longer deny his passion for his stunning yet mysterious student, Kara Valari. But surrendering to their desires carries more consequences than just violating the Alameda University conduct codes. Kara has defied her destiny. Higher directives have been violated. Now there’s hell to pay.

It’s a crisis for which there seems no solution, until the explosive secrets of Maximus’s bloodline are exposed. Despite all his doubts and fears, Maximus has no choice but to accept help from his enigmatic father, which means coming to terms with his heritage and embracing a bizarre new world of gods and demons. Because somewhere in that world - in the strange and sordid secrets surrounding his past - is the key to protecting Kara’s future. Nothing has ever meant more to him than saving the treasure of her life and the fire of her heart.

While earth’s lower realms seek payback for Kara’s transgressions, Kara finds a new ally in a surprising place: the Valari matriarch herself. Beneath the scrutiny of the world press, Veronica orchestrates a plan to protect her daughter by doing what she does best - shining the spotlight on her. But by her side, Maximus can’t escape the glare of the paparazzi.

Can they buy time and blind their enemies with Kara’s fame? Or will Hollywood’s new “it” couple and their forbidden love incite more vengeance than they’d ever bargained for?

A Storm of All Storms is Brewing

I listened as I read this story and the narrators totally enhanced the experience. Both POV's were full of emotion, passion, and intensity. I will definitely read/listen to the last book in the series this way too.

I am really enjoying this series. I love the element of Greek mythology mixed with our human world with a Romeo and Juliet twist. I was a little surprised to see it is a trilogy as I thought it was a duet.

Heart of Fire has given us a deeper look into the relationship between Maximus Cane and Kara Valari. Their bond deepens and the intensity builds! There is a storm of all storms in the making.

More secrets and deceptions are revealed and once again we are left with the story hanging off the edge as we grip tight to out kindles!  Can't wait to read the finish. Since I am reading these as they release, I feel like I lose a little of the momentum and excitement for the story between books. This is a series, in my opinion, better read consecutively. There are just too many nuances to the story that are easily forgotten between releases.

Not as good as the first book.

The first installment of this series had a lot more excitement and mystery about it. The characters were interesting and realistic. the latter trend continues in this second book, but the romance dialogue, both main characters' internal narrative gets boring and is overdone. I dislike Cara's turn to the damsel in distress, and our tasty Professor turning soft. The romance really drags. I feel these two are at their peak, and don't want to keep going. Good narration.
