Quirky, Campy and Fun!

It took me a handful of pages to get into this, but it finally started to grow on me before too long. The story begins with the main character, Genghis Boy offering to tell his story to a bar keep over drinks. His story fills the book and it is filled with violence, adventure, campiness and fun. The world created by the author is interesting and as a fan of Bruce Campbell, I couldn’t help but wonder if a small part of the inspiration for the story was drawn from his movies and TV show. The characters in the story are unique and the fictional place called, Heathen’s Barrow makes for an interesting and wild setting. The violence, gore and other disturbing scenes were told with a purpose to further the overall story. The grittiness of the main character was very entertaining and comes through strong in the audiobook version of the book. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy imaginative, violent, fantasy-type worlds where anything is possible.
