I actually used to be Charisma Silverstorm, member of one of the six elite Arcane Families, until my family shunned me when I turned 18 because my magic wasn't strong enough. Unfortunately, not all people from magical bloodlines have powers, and at 22, I’m several years past the age they usually appear. So I’ve resigned myself to a boring, magic-less life. Then something strange happens. I get stuck in the middle of a bar fight, and instead of just punching the guy back, I blow a hole in the wall. So...I guess I do have powers. But they’re unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. This shit is definitely not normal. And it seems the magical authorities agree. I can go to school, learn to control my magic. Or they’ll take it away. Permanently.

Moving to a new town to start college, where I can try to be normal. Or at least pretend I am. I’m willing to fake it, because I’m tired of trying to get better. Tired of spilling my guts to doctors and therapists to understand why I’ve heard voices since I was a child.

 The one thing about growing up an orphan was that life sucked, but at least it was my kind of sucky. It was simple, ordinary, predictable. Until the night I woke up naked in a dark forest, surrounded by a trio of powerful shifters who plucked me from my miserable existence to tell me I'm some sort of supernatural monster. 

I murder the bad guys on my downtime. You could say it’s one of my favorite hobbies. If someone wanted to get rid of me, I have this entire history of arson and murder they could have used. So, who framed me for embezzling and why? And why was I sent to Scorchwood as a first-time offender? It’s in Hell because that’s where they send the truly evil to rot.

I am a latent wolf shifter. Or so I thought. Then, life as I knew it changed in a flash - or more accurately, an electrocution. I’ve woken up in a strange place, surrounded by strange people who hate me. They’re in the middle of a war, and I look like I belong on the wrong side of it. If that’s not enough to qualify as a really bad day, I now have wings and a strange animal to figure out because it turns out that there’s not a damn latent thing about me.
