Johanna Spyri (1827–1901) was a Swiss novelist and short story writer, most known for her children's literature. Born in a rural area of Switzerland, Spyri moved to Zurich upon her marriage and in her homesickness, wrote her most famous novel, "Heidi" in just a month.
