Publisher's Summary

The author of the best-selling novel The Party - lauded as “tense and riveting” by New York Times best-selling author Megan Miranda - returns with a chilling new domestic drama about two women whose deep friendship is threatened by dark, long-buried secrets.

Frances Metcalfe is struggling to stay afloat.

A stay-at-home mom whose troubled son is her full-time job, she thought that the day he got accepted into the elite Forrester Academy would be the day she started living her life. Overweight, insecure, and lonely, she is desperate to fit into Forrester’s world. But after a disturbing incident at the school leads the other children and their families to ostracize the Metcalfes, she feels more alone than ever before.

Until she meets Kate Randolph.

Kate is everything Frances is not: beautiful, wealthy, powerful, and confident. And for some reason, she’s not interested in being friends with any of the other Forrester moms - only Frances. As the two bond over their disdain of the Forrester snobs and the fierce love they have for their sons, a startling secret threatens to tear them apart...because one of these women is not who she seems. Her real name is Amber Kunik. And she’s a murderer.

In her masterful follow-up to The Party, Robyn Harding spins a web of lies, deceit, and betrayal, asking the question: Can people ever change? And even if they can, is it possible to forgive the past?

I couldn't put it down. !!

loved it! Author is amazing to me. well done with 3 different readers and each character had a different voice. Loved the twist at the end. never would have guessed that!! Made me feel better about my own struggles as I believe there are people out there with the same issues!! will read again later!!

It was fairly predictable but entertaining enough

The narrating was pretty good. I binge listened to it as the story line was good. predictable, but good. I was expecting to be surprised or thrown for a loop with this story but no such luck. I love a good twist.

From the headlines to our headphones...

Canadian listeners (or true crime fans in general) will absolutely recognize the source material this novel was inspired by. This was a fascinating psychological journey that wove through the ups and downs of discovering your friend is not at all who they claim to be. A Simple Favor meets American Psycho.

I want a book 2

This was so good! I am hoping there is a book 2, if not already, that one will be written in the future. I want to know what happens to the characters later on!!!!

Great audio, good story.

This is my first book by this author and I would certainly check out another of her titles. While the climax left a little something to be desired for me I found the storytelling compelling and often sat in my car just to hear what was going to happen... I enjoyed the quality of the performance also compared to other audiobooks I have listened to. It was nice to have some variation in the voices for the characters. Overall, I'd give this book an 8 out of 10. #audible1
