Publisher's Summary

Sam Parker is a vampire with a gift so strong and substantial that she is invited to partake in a test for a place in the Grand High Master Vampire's private army. She finds that not only has the army never included a woman, but it has never included a Svente vampire; a breed that is regarded by the super strong Pagori breed and the hypnotically beautiful Keja breed to be too tame and human-like.

Most refuse to take her seriously, especially a Pagori commander named Jared who she craves in spite of herself. The Grand High Master, however, sees her potential and offers her the position of Jared's co-commander to help train the newest squad in time for the impending attack on his home. Sam has to demonstrate to Jared and the squad of chauvinists why it is incredibly foolish to underestimate a wilful, temperamental, borderline-homicidal Svente female.

A unique Vampire series with extra powers & jokes

I’ve read lots of vampire series and this one was a breath of fresh air, they weren’t super serious like most I was actually giggling for some of it!
It’s a light series so far not dark & heavy but I’m glad since the book I read before this was very heavy.
I enjoyed this new take where when vampires are made they develop a unique gift, this magic aspect makes the books very interesting.
I will definitely be diving into the next book

Overall pretty good

Only thing is that I don’t like the fact that the MMC referred to her as the B word. There are other terms of endearment that author could’ve used. Regardless, surprisingly a really good story and I’m gonna listen to the next one.

Thrilling vampire story

I got hooked from the start! The story was great I loved the chemistry between Sam and Jared, the spice was spicy, and the female narrator was great!! I had a hard time with the male narrator, but the story was interesting, and I had to keep going! Book 2 is also AMAZING! Light and fun read when you need a little vampire love story/Hogwarts vibe.

it's quite good actually

despite the terrible title for this book and awkward attempt at a British accent by the male narrator this is actually a really good story and a fun time you're just too the voices part way through which helps a lot but being mentally prepared for the awkwardness helps despite what the title implies the story itself is not as grammatically awkward I'm actually it's quite fun I would definitely recommend this so fun time

Does the author even know what sexist means?

Story: I was willing to let the grating choice of title slide, thinking that it would be enjoyable to listen to a feminist protagonist - one who opposed sexism as a central theme in the story. As you can imagine, it was then a surprise to learn that said protagonist was in fact incredibly bigoted and sexist, herself. Every time she encounters another woman, she immediately judges them by their looks, going so far as to give then demeaning nicknames that refer to their bodies. If you're a feminist and looking for a female protagonist you can feel good about, this isn't the book for you.

Performance: The female narrator was wonderful, and I have no complaints. The male, however, made me cringe every time he attempted a British accent, to the point of distraction.

Overall: It's an easy listen and if you're willing to completely overlook how hypocritical the female protagonist is, it could be enjoyable.
