Alex Verus's past continues to plague him in the fifth instalment of the ALEX VERUS series, when one of his friends goes missing. This story is filled with drama, tension, and choice, making for a compelling read.

Alex's past continues to be an engaging and dramatic point for the series, especially near the end of this novel with the return of people he would rather forget. He's a complicated character, but I love watching him exhaust every option to get out of a situation. I also adored learning more about Anne, who is a quiet powerhouse and who I want to see grow.

The series remains packed with action, drama, and quick pacing, ensuring there is never any boredom. There is clear tension through the novel and as the world expands, I find myself even more invested. Can't wait to see what happens next!

This book is very a lot of go go go. There is not a lot of time to sit and think. It's missing a few key elements of every book so far but that's okay. We further solidify the choices of friendship from the last book and learn some good back story that is key.
