About this listen
Foreword by Bill Gates
Microsoft's CEO tells the inside story of the company's continuing transformation, tracing his own personal journey from a childhood in India to leading some of the most significant technological changes in the digital era. As much a humanist as an engineer and executive, Nadella concludes with his vision for the coming wave of intelligent technologies and a distinct call to action for leaders everywhere.
Hit Refresh is about individual change, about the transformation happening inside of Microsoft and the technology that will soon impact all of our lives - the arrival of the most exciting and disruptive wave of technology humankind has experienced: artificial intelligence, mixed reality, and quantum computing.
It's about how people, organizations, and societies can and must transform "hit refresh" in their persistent quest for new energy, new ideas, and continued relevance and renewal. At its core, it's about us humans and how our one unique quality - empathy - will become ever more valuable in a world where technological advancement will disrupt the status quo as never before.
Satya Nadella explores a fascinating childhood before immigrating to the US and how he learned to lead along the way. He then shares his meditations as sitting CEO - one who is mostly unknown following the brainy Bill Gates and energetic Steve Ballmer. He tells the inside story of how a company rediscovered its soul - transforming everything from culture to their fiercely competitive landscape and industry partnerships. Nadella concludes with his vision for the coming wave of technology and by exploring the potential impact to society and delivering a call to action for world leaders.
"Ideas excite me," Nadella explains. "Empathy grounds and centers me." Hit Refresh is a reflection, meditations, and series of recommendations presented as algorithms from a principled, deliberative leader searching for improvement - for himself, for a storied company, and for society.

Book for Team at Microsoft and to the World Around
I was surprised Satya would publish a book early in his tenure as Microsoft's CEO. The book is as much about Satya sharing with the capitalist world what kind of CEO he wants to be and share with the Microsoft team where he plans to steer Microsoft and what role they should play in achieving the shared vision.
The book explores how he explores Microsoft's culture and innovation to create a vision for Microsoft in the 21st century. The book is surprisingly very honest as they navigate through Microsoft's decisions, mistakes and challenges from Nokia's acquisition to develop the Windows Mobile platform to becoming the lead software developer on the Android and iOS platforms.
In early Microsoft, Bill Gate's dream was to have a computer in every home - for the most part this has been accomplished. Satya's vision at Microsoft to empower every person and organization on the planet to do more is a vague and inspiring goal. With a broader sense of purpose, he outlines ideas approaches to manage the complexity and objectives of privacy and AI. He shares such fascinating views about the subject that this would be a fantastic read for almost anybody in the tech industry.

Interesting story on business culture
I enjoyed this story because most companies suffer from culture degradation. It was interesting to see how one major company managed to turn things around. The only problem for me was the way the author pushed pretty hard on Microsoft's emerging products. The reader was great and easy to understand. Good job.

stresses the importance of understanding your caus
It was to the point (short), engaging and overall a very good book. He does a great job with sharing his personal story, connecting it to a positive culture and remembering your true cause. I loves how he talks about the positive side of technology but suggests the need for hard work for it to stay that way. His optimism, passion and drive is inspiring. A lot of important topics are discussed that are relevant and debatable. Finished it in a week because it was that much fun.
