Over the course of his 60 years, Christopher Hitchens has been a citizen of both the United States and the United Kingdom. He has been both a socialist opposed to the war in Vietnam and a supporter of the U.S. war against Islamic extremism in Iraq. He has been both a foreign correspondent in some of the world's most dangerous places and a legendary bon vivant with an unquenchable thirst for alcohol and literature. He is a fervent atheist, raised as a Christian, by a mother whose Jewish heritage was not revealed to him until her suicide.

In other words, Christopher Hitchens contains multitudes. He sees all sides of an argument. And he believes the personal is political.

Ce que les critiques en disent

"Hitchens also proves to be more than a capable reader; his wit, erudition, and passionate unbelief could not have been conveyed as compellingly by a surrogate. Highly recommended for all general collections."—Library Journal on God Is Not Great
"As narrator, he contributes a pleasantly moderated voice and a listener-friendly British accent."—AudioFile Magazine on God Is Not Great

A great book and listen as if Hitch was in my living room telling me stories over a glass of wine or Scotch,

If you’re a fan of Hitchens, this is a must listen.

I really enjoyed listening to Christopher read his own memoir, it helped put me in his shoes. I had no idea about many of his interesting life experiences and loved his perspective on world events he was witness to particularly September 11th and another instance with a war hero’s family. I would highly recommend this to Hitchens fans!

Wondfully told story

Listen if you want to learn more about the positions he has taken, why he has done so, and with whom
he debated, identified with, and admired. This charmingly dismissive and unapologetically contrarian had a rhetorical style and mastery of English that regular folks only ever dream of developing. This public-school heavy hitter’s literary references alone provide a list that leisure readers could never finish in a lifetime of casual reading beside the fire. Hitchen's narration is delicious- the public school accent, the confidence, the wit--boy; he eas a thoroughly mesmerizing character. Get this to be thrilled and be schooled.
