About this listen
When they took my life, I thought I had nothing left to lose. I was a fool.
The Ouroboros Project was my last chance at salvation, but the new virtual reality was just as bad as the world I’d left. Backroom deals with corrupt nobles, slavery, and murder were all swept under the rug in the pursuit of gold.
Despite everything, I found mercenary life fulfilling, until my guild was attacked. Now, I've got unknown, extremely rich enemies on all sides, a mysterious woman with strange magic and compound eyes, and a guild to save.
They brought their war to my home. It’s only fair I return the favor.
Hive Knight is book one of the Trinity of the Hive series, the first in a dark fantasy series by Grayson Sinclair. Hive Knight features a dystopian real world and a gritty, bleak, and immersive VR world.

I love alot of things about this book first a MC that isn't perfectly good I love that he does bad things and doesn't try to save the world he just wants to save his corner of it and he's bloodthirsty when it comes to protecting his own I can very much relate to him I also love the take on insects while im terrified of them and feel just as grossed out as MC maybe more I love the new take on things it keeps things exciting 'eww grosss what happens next!' my reaction and I will be starting book 2 right after this review thank you for such an entertaining book!

Defines LitRPG to a T
First off, I am not a reader. I just started listening to audible because it is the only way for me to really enjoy and get into a novel without re-reading the same paragraph multiple times. That being said, I am also a game developer and game enthusiast and this is my honest review of Hive Knight by Grayson Sinclair.
This book is incredible. I've listened to many grimdark-style LitRPG novels and none of them could hold me quite like Grayson was able to. The narration by Neil was top-notch, I completely felt connected and submersed into the MC's role as a leader of the Hive guild and it just felt so incredibly rewarding to finish. Every bridge from storyline to storyline felt really connected and adventurous. Though I do wish we went back to some parts of the book and learned more about some of the situations since the book took a heavy turn in the middle and never really came back.
Either than that, the ending was fantastic and I CANNOT wait to delve into the 2nd book, which I already own, I'm just giving some other authors a show first to compare to this, but so far it is 100% my favorite novel thus far. Thank you for your amazing talent Grayson and please never stop writing these types of novels. From 1 gamer to an author.

The battle scenes are gruesome yet adventurous and very well explained. The imagery I get from them is vivid, really makes me feel like I'm experiencing everything right through Duran's eyes. One thing I think I missed or just didn't understand is once he changed why does he still have the epic talent he learned from the start, wasn't he right back to level 1, and is now something completely different?
The only gripe I really have about the book is the sex scenes with Eris. I get that the author wants you to really get into the connection of the bond, and all that, but I feel it was a little too intense at points for the darkness of the whole book. The relationship between her and Duran just took over the book completely and until Darren was involved, I almost stopped listening.
