About this listen

Sleepy Hollow is crumbling. To protect the supernatural town from the mundane world, each year a resident is sacrificed to the Dullahan, the Headless Horseman that protects the veil around the Hollow.

Nineteen-year-old Katrina van Tassel knows she’s a disappointment to her parents, for more reasons than one. But as the only daughter of the most prominent family in Sleepy Hollow, she never imagined that she would be chosen as the next sacrifice. Or that in her attempt to escape, she would instead come face to face with the Horseman himself.

But the harbinger of death isn’t who they said he was, and Katrina begins to question everything she has ever been told. Evil forces far more dangerous than the mysterious Horseman are at work in the Hollow, and the Horseman is determined to protect Sleepy Hollow.

Katrina is tempted to take the Horseman’s offer of assistance in fleeing Sleepy Hollow, rather than staying to fight by his side to save the town. Until he reveals she’s the only one with the power to stop the evil being summoned…

A standalone gothic fantasy, Hollowed will pull you into the reimagined world of Sleepy Hollow and thrust you into a mysterious town filled with deadly magic, cunning betrayals, and secrets you never saw coming. Cross the bridge into the Hollow and pick up your next dark fantasy.

Obvious with 2 dimensional characters

There was a decent premise, but whether it’s the breathiness of the reader, or the storyline I could not get into this story. Character arcs were flat, “villains” obvious with no depth, and the romance… felt elementary with just a bunch of tucking the main characters hair and subtle touches she doubts just for fun.

The main character…. Ugh. Weak shocked little girl who stumbles into each situation not with bigot but a whimper. The few times the author tried to give her teeth it came off more like a petulant irrational child having a tantrum.

I wouldn’t recommend this. I listened through hoping for some turn but honestly wished I’d quit within the first few chapters after the lead came across so dislikable.

I rarely leave reviews, and usually only to offer praise or accolades, but I wish there had been one on this book to save me wasted time

Not bad

I liked this book for the most part and wanted to keep listening, although there were a few parts that bugged me. There are quotes at the end of every chapter that sometimes I thought were apart of the book which would confuse me until I realized it was just a random quote. The characters also lick their lips a lot, which is suppose to be sexy somehow. All I was thinking was get this man some chapstick. The groaning every time there was a kiss was also kind of cringy. It also would’ve been nice if there was more magic involved. I personally didn’t find the villains obvious like the other review on here, it was a nice twist. That being said I would still say it was worth the listen and overall a good story despite the parts I didn’t like.
