Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Story
My name is Kazimir Wolfe. People call me "Kaz", except they don’t. I never use my real name; it’s too dangerous, for me and for anyone I meet. I’m on the run from the law, who think I killed my aunt, and from whoever did kill her, because they want to finish the job. So, I move around a lot, working construction or whatever job I can find. It’s a lonely life. I don’t let anyone get close...people who get close to me end up dead. Why? I’m a wizard. The world’s only wizard, as far as I know.

The Wizard's Council of Tarador was supposed to tell young Koren Bladewell that he is a wizard. They were supposed to tell everyone that he is not a jinx, that all the bad things that happen around him are because he can't control the power inside him, power he doesn't know about. The people of his village, even his parents, are afraid of him, afraid he is cursed. That he is a dangerous, evil jinx.

Story
War heroes aren't usually called out of semi-retirement and sent to the far reaches of the galaxy for a routine investigation. So when Colonel Carl Butler answers the call from an old and powerful friend, he knows it's something big - and he's not being told the whole story. A high councilor's son has gone MIA out of Cappa Base, the space station orbiting a battle-ravaged planet. The young lieutenant had been wounded and evacuated - but there's no record of him having ever arrived at hospital command.

Story
From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.

Story
Children are not supposed to rescue their parents, life is supposed to be the other way around. And rescues aren't supposed to be needed on the trip out to the new colony planet Valhalla. Slow, yes. Boring, yes. Dangerous? No, the trip is not supposed to be dangerous, never has been. When thieves attack the transport ship to steal an ancient alien artifact, and young Kaylee and her brother, Manny, are cut off from their parents, they have to stop the thieves from getting what they want.

Usual fun with Skippy
Solid addition to the series. Voice cast was great and story was interesting, but production was a little over the top with distracting background music in almost every scene.

Sometimes a bit too heavy on the sound effect, but still really liked it. Kristans voice actors killed it.

Loved listening up to this point
I found that there was to much special affects in the back ground. Some times it was hard to follow the story because the sound of the special affects drowned out the audio of story.

Other than a few actors, this production was solid
Get past the few low quality voice actors in supporting roles and adjust your listening style to pretend you are listening to a movie, not a book.
The audio quality is incredible. Sound direction, foley art, and editing are top notch.
All the headline talent is superb and the supporting characters are about 80% great with a few who should consider a different career. (The absurdly hammy girl in the opening scene and the breathy pornstar who should be a military chick right after opening credits for example).
Tune these out and enjoy the story, the dialogue, the incredible voice acting of Mulgrew, Bray & Quinto especially and a decent number of the secondary cast; the great story, and of course as mentioned, the sound design.
Loved it.

Good story, poor delivery
Unfortunately you'll have to listen to this before you get into the next book. It was a struggle to get through at times, not gonna lie.
The production quality is just awful. The whole thing sounds like it was recorded inside a friggin beer can. It's so echoey and tinny. And far, far, FAR too many sound effects and music. And the finger snapping! Good lord why??
Other than all that, the story was decent and RC shines as usual. I'm very much looking forward to just solo RC on the next few books.
Let's not do this again, shall we?

At first, I was worried about the format, in comparison to the previous books. I found it took me a while to get used to the different Voices in comparison to just the one. I'm quite happy to have stuck with it.

Tremendous!
I was skeptical whether or not I’d enjoy this before I bought it, but I can confidently say this is the best Ex-Force content I’ve gotten so far. The sound effects and background noise do a lot to immerse you in the story, and I don’t think I’ve gotten more thrills, chills, and laughter from the rest of the series combined. Aside from a character or two (Adams) the voice acting is great, particularly on the parts of Joe, Smythe, and Nagatha. I should caution that this story requires a lot more active listening than your typical audiobook though, and I’d highly recommend using headphones as the small details can get a bit jumbled through a speaker. All in all this seriously impressed me, and if I really had to complain about anything, it would be that the rest of the Ex-Force series will feel a bit lacking by comparison.
