Publisher's Summary

"It took hitting rock bottom for me to realize that if I wanted something better for my girls, I had to learn to love myself first."

Leah was first thrust under the reality television microscope when her teen pregnancy was documented on MTV's groundbreaking series 16 and Pregnant. Since then, fans of Teen Mom 2 have watched her life play out on the small screen - from her struggle to rise to the challenges of motherhood, through her harrowing journey to find a diagnosis for one of her twin girls with a rare form of muscular dystrophy, and the collapse of two marriages. She has learned to live under the harsh glare of media scrutiny, yet there is a truth behind the reality that the cameras have never revealed.

In her unflinching and honest memoir, Leah takes listeners behind the scenes and shares an intimate, often heartbreaking, portrait of her turbulent childhood in rural West Virginia, the rock bottom that forced her to reevaluate her life, and her triumphant break from toxic relationships and self-destructive cycles to live her life with hope, grace, and faith.

She explains her truth

Been following Leah’s journey from the beginning and I must admit there were times that I was confused as to her actions. Leah filled in a lot of information that made so much sense and then I understood why. She has gained so much insight and understanding and I think she now feels worthy. She also is making her girls her main priority and they will thrive under her guidance.

I was pleasantly surprised with this book. I'm so glad as a mother of 3 girls, Leah is breaking the cycle she was born into.

Left me wanting more of Leahs voice and story

While Leah isn’t the best narrator she certainly improved over the course of the book. I loved learning more about her upbringing, her medical complications leading to her addiction and her journey to self love and acceptance. Her voice really shined through and I found myself laughing out loud at her quips and thinking about how she seems like she would be fun to hang out with. I admire how she didn’t shy away from admitting her mistakes and took full responsibility for her actions which many people never do. I do think that her editor should have done a more thorough job of polishing her Leah’s writing, fixing the sequencing of events, repetition and grammar. My biggest complaint is that I really wanted more! There were so many topics and areas that I wanted to hear more about, 3 hours just isn’t enough to fully cover everything a memoir should. I guess I just have to hope she writes another book.
