Story
"Believing that something is wrong with us is a deep and tenacious suffering," says Tara Brach at the start of this illuminating book. This suffering emerges in crippling self-judgments and conflicts in our relationships, in addictions and perfectionism, in loneliness and overwork - all the forces that keep our lives constricted and unfulfilled. Radical Acceptance offers a path to freedom, including the day-to-day practical guidance developed over Dr. Brach's 20 years of work with therapy clients and Buddhist students.

This book gave me my life back
I cannot emphasize enough, that for anyone suffering from constant worry, anxiety, panic that has affected their quality of life - the approach in this book is the absolute right guide to follow. It takes time, it takes practice. But it has given me my life back.
I have gone through a few cycles of anxiety, and I could never quite articulate how I pulled myself out after months of panic and suffering. The practice of allowing feelings to come in, of letting them be without engaging, or adding additional worry and fear does takes time. But with practice every day, I now know how to pass through ANY feeling of panic, any persisting worry, and I once again feel like my former self. After being stuck for over a year (this cycle) in constant fear and anxiety, and searching every single "solution" or fix I could find, this approach is 100% the right path to follow. Many guides teach similar paths based on the exact same principle of allowing instead of fighting (DARE, Paul David...) but Dr. Weekes approach is the one that clicked for me. Once I had done it right, I felt it, and recovery came quickly after. After a month I felt like myself again.
The audio book is a shorter version than the original book, which I highly recommend anyone with anxiety read the full book.

Simply the best.
I bought this book years ago and forgot it on my shelf for years. I have read and tried every other resource for dealing with persistent anxiety. Finally I decided to go back to her again and immediately was given fresh hope. Her calm, common sense approach to anxiety and depression, delivered in her kind but no nonsense original voice is deeply comforting. Her method is incredibly insightful and rather simple. Simple but not easy. I listen to this little gem as often as I need to in order to remind myself of her basic principles. It’s a short book but needs to be consistently applied so that her method becomes second nature. Many books on anxiety and depression give you so much information and make healing so complicated that the tired mind is overwhelmed. She understands that a few simple concepts repeated over and over again and actually practiced are the key to recovery.
