About this listen
Young phenom pitcher Connor Clark doesn't want or need anyone's help making it to the majors.
He's got a hot arm and an even hotter temper. When his minor league team brings in seasoned catcher Jackson Evans to "handle" him, the two clash instantly. But as the two battle for power, anger gives way to lust, and an awakening Connor didn't see coming.
If Jackson wants to be hands-on, they might as well enjoy it. But once again, the man makes Connor work for it. Just like he does on the field. Only this time, the reward is so much sweeter.
When Connor gives in to Jackson's coaching, and Jackson gives in to his attraction, they're instantly on a hot streak—on the field and in bed. So hot that Connor finally gets that call to the majors he's always wanted.
But what's a pitcher to do without the catcher who owns his heart? Now all Connor needs is to convince Jackson they belong to each other forever, not just on a baseball diamond.
If you love baseball movies, you'll love this loose MM retelling of Bull Durham.

🌹🌹New Review! Hot Streak 🎧 by @bethboldenauthor as read by Darcy Stark
I’m going to keep this short since I’ve reviewed this book twice now, but I iuuust love this book SO much. I was super biased about this book so I had some real expectations about the narration before I listened to it.
Overall, I’d say Darcy did a really good job, although I think it was a wild choice to have Jackson and his mother and sister to have such wildly different accents. I don’t think Jackson would lose his NC accent while bouncing around the minors for 15 years, not that dramatically anyway.
I also expected Connor to have a bit more of a cocky accent instead of a skaterboi/grunge boy accent… since the difference between Connor and Jackson between a lot of conversations didn’t hold a lot of difference other than minor switches in octave and pitch. I definitely expected more variation in inflection to tell the difference between the two MC voices.
It should also be mentioned that Darcy performs the female characters SO well. Darcy is literally a chameleon and has INCREDIBLE range and I LOVE when that range is pushed.
The spicy scenes are still performed with passion and intent and to me, makes the book. I LOVE a committed narrator, but for sports themed book I also need the pain and empathy of the team scenes too and Darcy really brought the pain of Jackson’s twilight scenes of his career with Andy hitting me even harder. Nothing like players facing their mortality to have you realize your own. 😩
Anyway, the performance was great! I’m only a bit more critical because this was my third read through. 😆
I’m still going to listen to it over and over and over again.
