Solid Review of Research in the Area

This is exactly the sort of parenting book I like.

It does not have a child rearing philosophy to preach, and there is no old folk wisdom of questionable merit.

It does a good job of covering the research as it was at the time the book was written generally in this format:

1. Common observation by parents via example scenario.

2. Brief explanation of the mechanisms involved.

3. Overview of research on the question with experimental design and outcome.

4. Conclusions

5. Reccomendations for parents, often incuding how to replicate the studies at home.
