The author is a mom and a teacher who works with teens every day. Alyson Reid-Larade has over 20 years of experience dealing with teens, as a high school teacher, and then as a guidance counselor. - An understanding of how the teen brain reacts to stress
- How to identify and deal with toxic friends

Important Read For Teens and Parents
Rewarding listen, regarding resilience & self esteem for North American young adults in their developing years...not to mention great for their parents! Especially important in times where challenges come from “reality” and “virtual reality” with force and speed. I'd recommended for: teens; parents of teens/tweens; and educators.

The Book I Wish I’d Had as a Teen - But is Still Valuable to Me as an Adult!
I got this book ostensibly for my 16 year old daughter. It’s full of practical and inspiring advice, stories and revelations. As a handbook to guide her, it’s been invaluable.
But the REAL story here? It’s been a godsend for me! The 50 year old mama who is doing her own healing work. I’ve consulted spiritual tomes and psychology books, energy healers and philosophers… and I can tell you, this book captures the best of everything I’ve come to learn, and includes stuff I never considered before.
Whether it’s about body image, bullying, sex or relationships - women of all ages can benefit from the author’s practical, conversationally framed advice. I found the information on how the brain functions to be incredibly useful, not only in understanding my teen better, but understanding myself in a new light.
Alyson’s tone is conversational yet passionate, direct but non judgmental. It will resonate well with teens of all kinds. At least, the teen in me was riveted;)
