Publisher's Summary

There's only one word to describe the devil's kiss. Violent.

There's only one word to describe a hunter who locks lips with the most revered, most feared, and most despicable demon to have ever existed. Traitor.

A hunter and the Devil. It's not just an unlikely pair. It's an impossible one. Add his two henchmen to the mix and there's only one word that spells. Disaster.

I am Melody Black. Daughter of the New York Guild's leader. Daughter of the best hunter to have ever existed. But daddy dearest is about to lose his title. He's conquered a lot, but the one thing he has never done is come face to face with Lucifer himself. Now, here I am, standing with the King of Demons, sword palmed, stance perfected.

There is only one thing left to do. Defeat him. There is only one feeling meant to be felt. Rage. Instead, desire rips through my body, and even though Lucifer doesn't touch me, I can feel him everywhere.

I am the hunter, but I am also the hunted. And it's not just Lucifer who has his dark eyes fixated on me.

Contains mature themes.

Not bad but not amazing…

So our female protagonist is an elite demon hunter whose father Mr. Black just happens to run the guild she’s apart of in NYC.

I have to be honest she’s not a very likeable character, I get the push people away so you never get hurt thing but it gets annoying. Her father has never been a father to her, her only friend is killed and then she finds out why she’s always been so different (she’s literally 50% something else.

I’m all for reverse harems but so far it’s not making sense for this story. Don’t get me started on the fact that the devil apparently was the first human & not a fallen angel & his two best friends are high ranking demon because they were humans who found magical items, 🤦‍♀️ sorry but this is kinda stupid to me. Plus the fact that they need to feed off of humans life energy to live or they die. This book made the devil seem very weak. It’s disappointing.

There’s something up with the guy at her work that has a crush on her and she’s always blowing off.

The one behind the disappearing hunters & demons ends up being an angel but not just any angel (one who use to be a demon but reincarnated as an angel 🤦‍♀️) again this seems to easy and stupid to me. Oh but there’s more she’s someone important to her yet she has to kill her & she warns her “ if you cut the head off the snake, two more will grow in its place”

Narrator

I tried to return back to reading this book and realized why I stopped fast. It’s her voice! It’s grindingly hard to hear her talk. It’s her tone. I think I’ve listened to her in the past and liked how she read. It’s to bad because I think I might have liked the book otherwise.
