Publisher's Summary
The usual advice offered in self-help books and reinforced by our culture advocates a stressful, all-consuming quest for love and approval. We are advised to learn self-marketing and manipulative skills: how to attract, impress, seduce, and often pretend to be something we aren't. This approach doesn't work. It leaves millions of walking wounded, those who, having failed to find love or appreciation, blame themselves and conclude that they are unworthy of love.
I Need Your Love, Is That True? helps you illuminate every area in your life where you seem to lack what you long for most; the love of your spouse, the respect of your child, a lover's tenderness, or the esteem of your boss. Through its penetrating inquiry, you will quickly discover the falseness of the accepted ways of seeking love and approval, and also of the mythology that equates love with need. Using the method in this book, you will inquire into painful beliefs that you've based your whole life on, and be delighted to see them evaporate. Katie shows you how unraveling the knots in the search for love, approval, and appreciation brings real love and puts you in charge of your own happiness.

Story
In A Mind at Home with Itself, Byron Katie illuminates one of the most profound ancient Buddhist texts, The Diamond Sutra (newly translated by distinguished scholar Stephen Mitchell), to reveal the nature of the mind and to liberate us from painful thoughts, using her revolutionary system of self-inquiry called "The Work". Byron Katie doesn't merely describe the awakened mind; she empowers us to see it and feel it in action.

Story
The Work is simply four questions that, when applied to a specific problem, enable you to see what is troubling you in an entirely different light. As Katie says, "It's not the problem that causes our suffering; it's our thinking about the problem." Contrary to popular belief, trying to let go of a painful thought never works; instead, once we have done The Work, the thought lets go of us. At that point we can truly love what is, just as it is.

Story
Stephen Mitchell, the renowned translator of the Tao Te Ching, selected excerpts from that ancient text as a stimulus for Byron Katie to talk about the most essential issues that face us all: life and death, good and evil, love, work, and fulfillment. The result is an audiobook that allows the timeless insights of the Tao Te Ching to resonate anew for us today, while offering a vivid and illuminating glimpse into the life of someone who lives what Lao-tzu wrote more than 2,500 years ago.

Loved it
It's a great book that gently guide s the reader to challenge the stories we tell ourselves and then provides a step by step process to help us gain perspective on those usuallypainful stories. For myself it was really helpful to download the free "Judge-Your-Neighbour" worksheet from the internet to complete the exercises.

A few slaps in the face that woke me up
I was reading the comments and someone said it was like having her own therapist. I have to agree! I cried, I smiled, I nodded while I was totally recognizing myself. This book is a blessing. And, as she says, exactly what I needed right now. The 4 questions and the turnarounds are a powerful tool to break away from hurt and the stupid cassette that keeps playing in your head. I loved the book!
