About this listen

Their monstrous foes have been driven off, but the city is far from safe.

Verdan has found more questions than answers in the time since awaking, but the world waits for no one, and new threats are drawing close. With growing suspicion of the Sorcerer Sects, Verdan must give the people of Hobson’s Point the tools to protect themselves. Failure means death and the fall of the final independent city.

Time is limited, but never underestimate a Wizard backed into a corner.

Better than the first!

This was an excellent listen. The narrators did a good job of making the characters seem different, and I've always loved books where there was a split in narration. No complaints here.

Plot-wise, the second book in the series builds on the themes of the first and manages to tie them together, with real character growth for multiple characters in the series. New characters are introduced, but old ones are given attention. Relationships form - including, FINALLY, Verdan himself - and opinions are changed. Everything comes to a crescendo in the siege of Hobson's Point.

The book addresses PTSD, addiction, healing, and consent in complex and caring ways. It also reveals more about how sorcery, wizardry, nature magic and divine magic work.

All in all, I am ready for book three. Why isn't it out yet??
