Publisher's Summary

Deception. Risk. Betrayal. Redemption. Master storyteller Scott Westerfeld is at the top of his game, and back to his most famous realm.

Frey and Rafi are inseparable.... two edges of the same knife. But Frey's very existence is a secret. Frey is Rafi’s twin sister - and her body double. Their powerful father has many enemies, and the world has grown dangerous as the old order falls apart. So while Rafi was raised to be the perfect daughter, Frey has been taught to kill. Her only purpose is to protect her sister, to sacrifice herself for Rafi if she must.

When her father sends Frey in Rafi’s place as collateral in a precarious deal, she becomes the perfect impostor - as poised and charming as her sister. But Col, the son of a rival leader, is getting close enough to spot the killer inside her. As the deal starts to crumble, Frey must decide if she can trust him with the truth... and if she can risk becoming her own person.

With Impostors, master storyteller Scott Westerfeld returns with a new series set in the world of his mega-bestselling Uglies - a world full of twist and turns, rebellion and intrigue, where any wrong step could be Frey’s last.

Enjoyable listen

I’ve always been a fan of his uglies series! Took several years off and was able to get right back into the story. Stunning performance too!

A wonderful re-entry into the Uglies world

Westerfeld has recreated the Uglies world in a beautiful way keeping its roots and telling a new, imaginative, thought-provoking story. If I could give it more stars I would!

I never realized just how much he affected my own writing

After just over a decade, listening to this filled me with so much nostalgia. Scott has such a nice writing style, one I could spot a mile away from just a sample (it’s one of my super powers), and though he applies that to his other novels there is just something about the books within this realm that have a feeling of otherness. They feel like they could be reality at any moment. The progression of language and science, the way he uses that here, it’s always so well executed. I once watched an interview where he talked about how his characters made their own story and it never felt like he was in charge, I felt that, I felt each character’s influence and voice throughout. I never realized just how much of that and his wisdom affected my own writing, but he’s just so brilliant that there was no way it couldn’t. There is never a slow point at any part of the story, no filler, no pointless “the curtains were red and so he meant...” if something like that has a meaning, it’s clear and we aren’t left guessing if it is or isn’t a symbol. This story feels like the natural progression of this universe, like the circles you always see in history. I can’t wait for the next one. So please, if you’re hesitant or unsure, trust me, it’s just as good as the rest of the other books.

And remember;

She’s not coming for us.
