About this listen
Imperial Intelligence couldn't find them, the Imperial Fleet couldn't catch them, and local defenses couldn't stop them. It seemed the planet-wrecking pirates were invincible. But they made a big mistake when they raided ex-commando leader Alicia DeVries' quiet home/work, tortured and murdered her family, and then left her for dead.
Alicia decided to turn "pirate" herself, and stole a cutting-edge AI ship from the empire to start her vendetta. Her fellow veterans think she's gone crazy, the Imperial Fleet has shoot-on-sight orders. And, of course, the pirates want her dead, too. But Alicia DeVries has two allies nobody knows about, allies as implacable as she is: a self-aware computer and a creature from the mists of Old Earth's most ancient legends. And this trio of furies won't rest until vengeance is served.
In Fury Born is a greatly expanded new version of David Weber's popular novel Path of the Fury, which has gone through six large printings in its original mass market edition. David Weber has added considerable new material, revealing the earlier life of Alicia DeVries before she embarked on her mission of vengeance, and illuminating the universe of the original story. The result is a novel with almost twice the wordage of the original, and a must-buy for all David Weber fans.

One becomes Three then 27 (3cubed)
A 1 woman wreaking team who will not let anything stand in the way of justice. A gripping story of the few sent to protect the many and that is just the first half of the book and only the backstory for the second half of the book: the 1 woman meets 2 other ladies (using the term very loosely) and they are as exceptional as she. The bad guys have no idea what is heading their way.
A typical David Weber novel: lots of action held together by an excellent plot but also full of social, economic, cultural, and political issues that give his books such staying power and depth.

Drags on
It is pretty enjoyable but there is a terrific amount of padding. There are large tracts of political and military interaction that contribute little to the story and much to boredom. It isn't clear how Allie descends so rapidly to madness, seems a little strained after building her up so much.
Overblown but not bad.

Excellent listen
I will be honest this book is 31 hrs long and i'm 18 hours in but that is why longer then i needed. It is a good story but it is the performance of Vivienne Leheny. The lady was great. I prefer female readers for female main character novels. Male driven books I can take male or female reader. Vivienne does a wonderful job.
