Publisher's Summary

When Shay Zucconi’s step-grandmother died, she left Shay a tulip farm—under two conditions.

First, Shay has to move home to the small town of Friendship, Rhode Island. Second—and most problematic since her fiancé just called off the wedding—Shay must be married within one year.

Marriage is the last thing in the world Shay wants, but she’ll do anything to save the only real home she’s ever known.

Noah Barden loved Shay Zucconi back in high school. Not that he ever told her. He was too shy, too awkward, too painfully uncool to ask out the beautiful, popular girl.

A lifetime later, Noah is a single dad to his niece and has his hands full running the family business. That old crush is the farthest thing from his mind.

Until Shay returns to their hometown and turns his life upside down.

CW/TW: absentee parent(s), brief mention of parent death, brief mention of parent chronic illness, mention of incarceration, mention of temporary foster care placement, reference to teenage teasing/bullying (not detailed, not explicit), brief incidence of fat-shaming, living with a neurodivergent child.

Produced by One Night Stand Productions.

Small Town + Jam

I love a good grumpy sunshine, small town romances hit so different. The narrators were also incredible (!!!!!). I read this book a while back and I enjoyed it just as much listening to it.

When acts of service is your jam

I loved this. Jason Clark is one of my favourite male audiobook narrators and he was perfectly cast as Noah, the grumpy farmer who is finally in reach of the girl he’s loved since high school. The book reminded me a lot of Sarina Bowen’s “Bittersweet” and now I want to go to a farmers market.

Remarkable

I saw a reviewer mention that the female narrator wasn't her cup of tea. I get what she meant but I think Kit did a terrific job of portraying a woman deeply scarred not only by her ex fiance, but also by a financially rich but emotionally poor upbringing rife with being off loaded on others to raise her. Her portral of Gennie ( the child) and other female characters was spot on ( especially when you discover facts about each character revealed in the ongoing story).
Now, Jason Clarke.....the man is talented beyond belief. The cast of characters he continues to create is overwhelming. I'm just stopping here because this performance was a revelation. That's it...I'm dumbfounded.

Accidentally finished it in one sitting

I didn’t intend to listen to this in one go, considering it’s a 15 hr long book, I figured I’d have a couple days for it. However, once I got sucked in, I was in for the long haul and there went my entire day off, not mad about it though. This book was great, funny, witty and heartwarming. I love the relationship between Shay, Noah, and Gennie so much. And the spice was the perfect amount. My only tiff was the female narrator wasn’t my cup of tea at first but eventually it didn’t matter because the story made up for it.

All in all, loved it, going to be doing a deep dive into more of Kate Canterbary’s books now
